Films. Many genres, some you like, some you don't. Others? Well, meh! This ad caught my eye on YouTube™, and I thought it looked promising. Then I watched it. And changed my mind. Or am I the only one who doesn't like getting the bejaysus scared out of me in the cinema?

I've watched movies that are scary...but to watch a movie just to have myself scared silly...no....I'd rather not.

My thoughts exactly. And the trailer above looks like "scary movie" territory to me, although the setting looks like something I would enjoy - I loved Gravity, The Martian, Cargo, even Extant on Amazon Prime...

@pgntwo I'd if you want to talk scary why not fantasize about the main characters in such a film being Arlene and Michelle.

@pgntwo Imagine the director trying to get a word in. Or a husband.

I love scary movies, and the scarier, the better! Who cares if I miss three nights of sleep because I'm so terrified of the dark and every little creak I hear inside the house? LOL

Unto each their own. I made my mind up decades ago, and the odd Doctor Who episode is as scary as I go...

@moffittjc It has become convoluted as well as scary lately.

@pgntwo I used to watch Doctor Who a lot when I was very young, and it scared me! But no matter how scared I was, I was hooked on watching it, so I always made sure to watch each episode when it came on.

There is a time and a place for everything, but having the willies put up you is way down the list as far as I am concerned.

Modern movie makers, in my opinion, don't know how to scare people. There was barely a drop of blood in The Birds and that movie had me wearing a diaper.

Strange which films grab our bladders that way... The Birds I found ok. And Psycho. Would be boring if we were all alike.

I'll confess: I haven't read the discussion yet. I came here for the Scooby Doo parody of the The Scream painting. That's marvelous.

Oh I love scary movies, I have seen this trailer and it does not trigger an interest to see this specific movie.

I think it might be one I won't rush to see, based on the trailer anyway.

I love getting scared senseless but at home from a video and in my own bed. I am passing this one up.

I saw the original Alien in the cinema. Stunning sense of Space, a really great movie. I did find myself crossing dark spaces alone at night a little faster than usual for a week or so afterwards though. Then as I watched the second in the Alien series on video, I decided that not inflicting such terrors on myself was a generally better idea, and switched the TV off. I have not watched any of the rest of the Alien franchise.

I don't like getting scared in the theatre. There are a few expletives I never use voluntarily but 'getting the 'bejaysus' scared out of me is apt to cause them to come forth all by themselves. And I wouldn't want that in a cinema.

The popcorn goes everywhere... But the rustling of sweetie wrappers and crisp packets does tend to stop in the lead-up to such moments!

@pgntwo I can just imagine the popcorn! We don't eat it so I hadn't really thought about it going everywhere. We went to see a pretty intense French film and when a guy came exploding through a French door I nearly landed in Vince's lap - much to the consternation of both of us.
