Waiting a long time to get seated at a restaurant...

This past Saturday I went to a gastropub for dinner. The place was packed and there was no empty table. I had to wait a long time to sit down and eat. I think it was at least 40 minutes of waiting time. I was really hungry so contemplated leaving and going elsewhere. I really wanted to try this place out though and it was late to try and go look for someplace else to eat anyway so I chose to wait. I had to stand by the bar to pass the time... and I am not a drinker really. I ended up sipping some beer that my hubby took to try. In the end, the food we ordered was pretty good and I loved the atmosphere and decor of the place so it was worth the wait. Still, having to wait that long for a table is ridiculous. And I don't think reservations are accepted here... Perhaps if there was a nearby option at the time I'd have left. How long do you think the wait time for a table should be? What's the maximum time you'd wait for a table at a restaurant?

I would not wait more than 10-15 minutes. I don't think any meal is worth waiting 40 minutes for unless it was my mom's or grandma's cooking!

Now it only took me about 20 minutes to get to the place by car... But if I had to travel a very long time to get to the restaurant I wouldn't just leave because then the commute would have been for nothing...

We know better than to go out to dinner on a Sunday in this area most any area of Tennessee. People flock out of church and head to the restaurants and sit there until its time to go back for evening services. By the time they leave the places are a mess and the food is limited. We did it once and that was enough.

Oops... Reading your comment I just realized I wrote Sunday in my post instead of Saturday. It was a Saturday night outing for me. Fixed the mistake.

@lovebuglena It's the church people...we never had that problem when we lived up north.

It's crazy that it happens all the time where you live... I wouldn't want to do that either.
