There is no reason my adopted sister would lie or make up such a tale. The hospital social worker wanted to know why roommate sister was lying in her hospital bed crying. Answer: "I lost my husband eighteen months ago. " Social worker: "You should be over that by now. You need to go to grief counseling." And me? I believe the social worker needs another job. And a punch from me. How dare she say such a thing? Who sets a timeline on grief? Has she lost someone that she walked with for over forty years? Has she just almost died? What happened to compassion and medical care and forethought? The social worker was happily elsewhere when I visited roommate today.

Wow, she is in the wrong line of work. she needs to work with like mops and brooms - she should have been a janitor. because she has no compassion. It amazes me how many people have entered these fields and have no idea how to talk to or be compassionate to people... Why in the world did you choose these jobs???

@minx267 I am with you. I have witnessed others in such positions abuse their power and hated it- with me, having a deep fear of needles. The nurse telling me to just shut up and sit down and take it. I called her supervisor and all the super said, Was yes, the lady had had issues with others. How about firing her butt??

A person with no compassion should not be in that line of work. That was very rude.

Wow, that is really despicable! You never really "get over" the loss of a loved one, and even when you think you've managed to deal with it, memories and thoughts can crop up anytime and set the tears flowing again.

Some people are truly heartless and should not work with people, i think she deserves to lose her job.

How completely insensitive of that social worker! I agree that social worker needs to be in another profession - how heartless can she get!

I would encourage her to go to grief counseling, but at the same time, saying "you should be over that by now" was rude

Some people have absolutely no compassion. What a terrible thing to say to the poor woman. It's when you are ill that you are most likely to miss your spouse and their support badly.
