I just heard on the radio that Pepsi is looking for specific types of people for their next commercial. They want: A inner city person A transgender African American A Muslim An LGBT Now, there are a couple more but I'm wondering just how they think the public will be able to tell who is the transgender? Who is the LGBT? Who is the Muslim or the inner city person? Do these people have a certain look or are they somehow branded so we can tell what religion, gender, or economic class they are? How ridiculous this has become. What do you think? Will you email Pepsi and tell them how silly they are being or praise them or just laugh and forget about the whole thing? I did look this up because I thought it was a joke. Nope, it's a story in the New York Daily News!

Maybe they just don't want to be targeted.

Maybe so. I'm just wondering how they'll let us know who is who since everyone pretty much looks human.

@dragon54u They don't have to shout it from the rooftops. When and if the issue comes up that the company doesn't use transgenders, they can trot out the commercial with that person and say....yes they do. It's like insurance.

I think they may have to have arrows pointing to the different minorities because otherwise how can we tell them from the "average" people?

@dragon54u i know what you mean. its like my oldest daughter saying her husband has a "normal" family and i wonder what the heck is there a normal family? is that supposed to be like in the old sitcoms on tv where no cussing went on and the dad and mom was perfect, loving and teaching and understanding? i don't think any real family has perfect normal people in it. so normal is the other way if you ask me. just regular people all different. lol. thats normal.

That to me would be a silly commercial but maybe they are trying to say that all people no matter who they are drink pepsi.

That's true but how will we know which is the LGBT or the Muslim or the trans? Do they have a certain look, a third eye, an invisible (to them) sign above their heads? My point is that in trying to show diversity and open mindedness, they are showing prejudice and bigotry.

That's an interesting mix of people. Wonder what commercial they are cooking this time.

I don't know and shudder to think! How are we supposed to tell who is who? Will the Trans have a beard and dress or be a normal looking person as they really are? Will the Muslim have robes and a turban or something or look like everyone else--as they usually do? That's why I think this is ridiculous, because why are they looking for people like that when we won't be able to tell what they are unless they make them stand out? That is bigoted.
