Recently, a TV series “In the Name Of the People” with anti-corruption campaign as its theme, have brought into public focus in China. I also have been following this drama because it closes to life, especially for people like me working in the government agency. This series has a very complicated plot. Many officials are involved in political complicated struggles, open and secret, connecting with the interest of the people. Besides, many ugly cases are revealed actually in the TV, for instance, in order to let the masses who want to reflect issues to the government leave quickly, the service windows of letters and complaints office are designed so low that people have to bend over to communicate with government workers, rather than stand or squat comfortably. In real life, there are really some corruptions happened around me. Last week, I called one section chief to participate the information project review meeting, however, I couldn’t reach him this Monday and was told that he had been arrested and detained in a police cell on suspicion of accepting bribes later. It’s really shocking! Powers should not be abused at will, should not be exercised for selfish interest, and also shouldn’t be set aside by shiftless man. The damage to a country’s image and its people brought by the corrupt officials will be borne by the long period of time. China should draw lessons from the startling facts. Is there any corruption phenomenon around you? Do you have some complains or proposals to your government? Share with me

Someone have compared this TV series to the American political drama House of Cards, it frankly depicts the ugly side of Chinese politics. I hope through its broadcasting corruption and bribery can be reduced.

I know that this TV series is quite popular lately. In fact my parents and my colleagues all watch it except for me. I am much more interested in watching foreign TV series and especially movies. But if I have to choose, I prefer to watch this Chinese TV series rather than others concerning about the ancient count struggle.
