Do They Hire Stupid People Or What

I don't have any type of cable or satellite tv. I canceled that mess well over 2 years ago. But yet day after day I get mail saying " They Want Me Back", I'm sure they do. They made a ton of money off me when I did have it. $110.00 bucks a month for the privilege of watching their shows. Oh boy I'm the lucky one. NOT. I remember when there was no such thing, and they started to advertise it. No commercials was the biggy, and I thought awesome no commercials I could certainly live with that. And we all got sucked into their garbage. So starting 3 days ago I have been getting calls about my appointment to set up my Directv. One call after another. So I got fed up with it and called them. Told them I hadn't set up an appointment. They asked me if I was Linda, I told them I was not and they had the wrong number. They rattled off the number and I told them that was not my number they are dialing wrong. They asked my name and I asked them why. To see if I was Linda, I just told them I was not and the number they rattled off was one number different than mine. So the lady said she would make sure my number was taken out of their system and inform the install guy that he is calling the wrong number. Not 2 minutes after my call they call again and I tell the guy you got the wrong number, call your office. He says sorry and 5 minutes later I get another call from a different guy saying he is on the way to my house to install Directv. OMG really?? I tell him the same thing and hang up. 30 minutes later, yup you guessed it another call about my appointment. Total idiots. So no more calls yesterday. But this morning at 7 am yup 7 am here they come calling me again. Twice. Apparently telling them they are calling the wrong number doesn't work with these idiots. I'm wondering when they will figure it out. Anyone want to take bets?

We are tv people - on a real tv not on a computer or cell phone. We have direct TV - have had it since the early 90's, I had it prior to our getting married. Here it is the only option. My husband is not a computer person so if something happens to me (I plan on 'going first') we have to have something he is capable of using. Direct TV never calls or sends e-mail...only the notice of payment and then the notice they received the check..110 is cheap - ours is close to 140, but it's our entertainment - we don't go out to movies or such.

@fishtiger58 They called here on day about a special promotion - I said no thanks, but I do have some things to talk to you about - I complained loudly about them saying that we would not have certain local channels. To shut me up the guy gave me $10 off the bill for a year and free prime movie channels for 6 months. So I can't complain.

@fishtiger58 Some companies are willing to give a little, some aren't. You were lucky that's a good price. Mine is 80.

and I can certainly understand that, but they are well aware I don't want their service but yet calls galore and mail from them and a couple others every single day. And you don't get their annoying mail and calls because you are already a member try not being, see where that gets you. I used to be and now they won't leave me alone.

I had Direct TV once and they're awful! I cancelled less than 24 hours later, but they wouldn't issue me a refund. I owe them $800 for less than 24 hours of service. Needless to say I'm taking my sweet time paying that bill!

@fishtiger58 I was livid they wouldn't let us return it less than a day later. How ridiculous. That was a few years ago and I've only just recently begun paying the bill, only because it's now on my credit report. I did try to dispute it a few times but it kept coming back, so now I'm paying them like $25 every other month.

Yea because you have a contract, it's the only way they can keep you as a customer or just have you pay because you broke the contract. Having a contract for tv is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. What a shame you owe them so much for so little.

@katsmeow1213 That is just shameful, I thought we had 3 business days to cancel something without penalty.

So far they have not shown up and I told them I was not Linda, and they have the wrong number, but they just keep calling. They are true idiots and I think they are losing customers by the boat load, so they will do anything to get customers. However they won't be getting me.

@fishtiger58 I can't even fathom a business running like that. Not one of them has the sense to put the correct information in their computer. What a complete waste of your time!

@CRK109 I think they do it on purpose. I really do, apparently they must think if they badger me enough I will take their service. They couldn't be more wrong. It's about the money that's why they act like this. I have heard that cable companies are losing customers like crazy and are getting desperate. Internet streaming is becoming the new norm. And it's so much cheaper at least for me it is.

@fishtiger58 Be patient. In the time things would be regulated. They at last will know that you are not valid to them. Concerning the last call - probably the time was so short for them to know that your number was removed. Be sure all be OK after some time.

@WriterAI I would have to think that 2 days would be plenty of time to know they are calling the wrong number, but hey I am obviously wrong.

@fishtiger58 Oh I agree! We don't have cable either and won't. We have an antenna and that works fine for us. The kids get cartoons and we get a couple channels we like. Plus we have DVD's too.
