One more "little miracle" for today

One more quick story and I have to go. Yesterday, I wrote an email to my librarian. Books are coming this Friday and with the week I've been having, I've been so worried that I might not be available. Plus, my librarian always calls the week that books are coming to see if I need to renew anything and to see how I liked my books. So I wrote the email to fill her in on life recently and that if I'm not around to get her phone calls, she'll understand. Meanwhile, I'm hoping to be here Friday morning for books. So do you know what she did? (of course you don't!) She called Helen, who delivers my books. Helen is in her 80s. She told Helen my story. Helen then called me and told me that if I need a ride to the pharmacy, to the vet, to the grocery store or anywhere else, I am to call her and she will take care of me. She asked about Ruby (she loves Ruby to bits) and asked how I'm handling everything, and said that if I can't be here Friday, she'll deliver to me on Saturday, just to call her and let her know. Can you imagine? She is one incredible woman. She's become such a role model to me because age means absolutely nothing. I'm sure she's part of the reason I'm getting off my back side and moving around more. I can't let her pass me up like this! lol But I thank God every minute for my librarian and Helen, both, for being so nice to me. I do believe my Guardian Angel is working overtime right now! Gotta run but I'll be back! Claudia

Wow, you are blessed with some great people in your life! How nice of Helen to offer transportation and book delivery on a different day! I have never heard of anything like that, is there a program in your community that delivers books? We have nothing like that here.

Yes, we are so blessed by our library system. They have one librarian who oversees book delivery to the senior and disabled in our community. Some of us are pretty much home bound, so she makes sure we get new books every 3-4 weeks. She loves her job, she finds great volunteers to deliver the books and I think they are some of the best people in the world!

That's some good people you have around you. Your guardian angel should be able to have a long tea break!

Yes indeed! I've thanked my Guardian Angel properly and hope that he/she can take something of a break while I go off to take a much needed nap!

Our local library also has volunteers to deliver books to shut ins. My daughter (librarian) delivered books to the elderly couple who lived across the road from her. She built up quite a relationship with them.

It can be so uplifting to know that some people care enough to offer such a lot of help to you. They truly sound like guardian angels.

Just knowing people want to help gives me enough of a safety net to keep going.

I do. Sometimes I don't realize it until some emergency pops up and then I have people reminding me that they are there for the asking. And that's when I get on my knees and thank God for not leaving me high and dry.

That's so wonderful Claudia. Helen is a wonderful person. Does your library have a drive-thru pick-up window at the side of the building, when you can call and ask them to hold them for you? Just curious. Have a good one.

No they don't have any drive thru. The head librarian at my local branch runs a "Home Bound" department. When she finds one of us who has no car and can't easily get to the library, she puts us on her list to get books delivered at home once every 3-4 weeks. It is such a blessing for all of us, so we can keep reading and even have that little visit when new books come!
