What happens when you don't eat any food?

I haven't eaten any food since 9:20 PM last night. It was a few pieces of cake and not a great cake at that. And now, I'm getting jittery and anxious to eat something. Every time I eat some food that is not healthy I seem to get a negative reaction in my body and so I just wanted to wait as long as possible to allow my body to deal with it. It is now 17 hours since I have eaten any food. I did drink 6 glasses of water. I think it is long enough and so now I will eat a nice English cucumber, 4 oranges and a sprig of fresh mint from a plant that I bought yesterday. What happens if you don't eat any food for a while?

I occasionally fast for a day - then I drink water and try not to think about food. I may get some hunger pangs - but nothing I can't deal with.

Yes, I was seeing all the nice fruit on my table and so it was hard not to think of food. [em]lol[/em ]I guess I could have stretched it longer but no reason to and I just enjoyed my little meal. Now, I feel better!

Then you need to eat more often to make sure it doesn't happen.

I guess your body has been used to healthy food so it is repulsive to unhealthy stuff. That is same reaction that I get when I eat junks so I really prefer eating healthy. I can survive not eating anything for a long while but I must drink enough water while doing so.

@salonga Went out today without eating or drinking and drank my water when I got back home at 3:20 PM. So went without any food or water since 8 PM last night and I had no struggle at all. Pretty good day!

Yes, I think that's what happened! My body is more sensitive. I think looking at the oranges on my table was a problem. Once I see something, it becomes hard to resist but 17 hours without eating was pretty good. I am not going to beat myself over it.

Right away the song came into my mind. I guess you can't go many hours without eating.

@nanette64 That was a big hit when I was 19 years old. As far as diets and fasting, we are all different and what works for one does not work for someone else. Do what you have to do and may you live long and prosper.

I usually eat as soon as I feel hungry but was trying to get rid of the effects of that cake with junky ingredients. I shouldn't have had it but I did.

I don't know. I don't make it a habit of not eating for extended periods of time. Even though I know fasting is very good for you.

We enjoy doing what some call Intermittent Fasting. It is similar to what you mention here. Going without food all day is not an issue for me. It is after 3 p.m. here and I have not eaten yet, but will soon have a pile of spinach, lettuce, etc. b/c I want to...not b/c someone said I should.

Your blood sugar drops, and your body's not sure when more will be coming. The cake probably spiked your blood sugar and made your body produce insulin, but then it thought that there was a crisis and the world was out of food (since you didn't eat for 17 hours). No wonder you were jittery!

If I don't eat any food for some time, I will feel hungry for sure. And it is not nice when I am hungry since I may be angry. I will also sweat. And I will lose my energy.

I did it after I ate a few pieces of cake and I wanted to make sure that my body had dealt with the cake before I poured in more food. Sometimes I;m not hungry.

I just get a grumbling stomach.Last night I ate a serving of Chicken casserole around 8 pm and around midnight a bowl of grits. It is just after 1 pm and I am just now eating, cucumber and tomato with black olives and a drizzle of ranch dressing. I am not a scheduled eater at all.

The last time I took a long time to eat I could not move I had to make someone take food to me, If I had moved I know I would have fainted. It definitely lower my pressure.

I don't really like water so that could be the major reason why fasting is going against me
