Hi Mona, I am a newbie too. I just came in yesterday. I just realized that if I want to cash out $5 by the end of the month, I need to write more comments in a single day.
For example, yesterday I posted 4 comments, I had earned 0.007 cents. By the way, you don't see the money under $ until the next day. SO, use the calculator and count how many comments you need to post per day, cheers!

Actually, Miss Peach, you can't figure out how many cents per comment and it does show up every hour by about fifteen or so after each one. It's not your own comments that produce money for you like most places, but your comments that get interacted with or upon.
If you really want to earn write something to introduce yourself here. That will give those you're following and others something personal of yours to interact with. Some will look for comments you've made and do their interacting in that manner, but not all will.
I do remember you from bubblews and hubpages although I don't remember if I ever looked you up there. I do not follow everyone that follows me. I visit according to activity I see around the site.
If you didn't read the other comments here, look for the one from Owl as he explains things nicely. You can't miss it it's as long of a comment as mine here or maybe more.

Welcome to myLot! I'm sure that you will find a good number of friendly people here with whom you can have discussions on many things that interest you. I can guarantee, too, that you will learn quite a lot about different things and customs because there are people from all over the world here. What I cannot promise is that you will 'earn a lot'. It all depends, of course, on what you mean by 'a lot'! It isn't difficult to reach the minimum of $5 by the end of each month, though you may find earnings a little slow at first. The most active (and 'popular') people sometimes achieve as much as $20 or $30 some months but they are very much in the minority.
It's important to understand that what you post here - discussions, responses and comments - does not earn you anything at all. Earnings are based on the responses, comments (and 'likes' and other interactions) which you RECEIVE from others, so conversely, everything you do is helping someone else to earn! Of course, the more 'social' (and helpful and interesting) you can be when responding to and commenting on other people's posts, the more likely it is that they will respond to and comment on yours.
The best way to get started is to look at recent discussions ('Explore/Most Recent') and to choose ones which interest you to respond to. It's a good idea to read and get to know the Guidelines so that you can choose those discussions which are not likely to disappear pretty quickly (the forum is moderated and it's also a good idea to add the admin, @goaskalice, to the list of those you follow. If you have any questions about the way that the site is managed, he is the person to ask and if you send him a message about anything you don't understand, he does respond.
