Did I Miss April Fools Day? I Wonder How This Happened

Oddly enough I just got a notification that Gus mentioned me on a post of his. When I went to check it out the comment it took me to I made back on April 8th of this month. I checked a few times to make sure I wasn't looking at the wrong place, but that's exactly the comment it was notifying me about. I was hoping to show yesterday's date underneath the current ones but my screenshot didn't capture that. I will say that the comment right under the one in question, that has Paige's name on it says it also was 9hrs ago which was really just four hours. I'm not mentioning this latter part questioning why it says 89 hrs because I know that this site shows immediate comments or interaction as at least 5hrs. I'm bringing that up to show the difference in time for two notifications that took place one right after the other. Have any of you ever noticed this type of discrepancy? I thought at first maybe he left me a new comment, and I just thought of something. Maybe he did write something and it either didn't go through as planned or he deleted it just afterward and my notif was already sent out. Any thoughts? New Info: Anna informed me that she thinks maybe all he did was edit his original comment made to me two weeks ago and that's why I got a notification for an older response.

I think I've been taken to a previously seen comment or reply before but if it was from one that I just saw recently I'd scratch my head and move on. Because this one was so long ago it gave me a double-take. Had Anna told me what she thought it was I'd still be scratching my head, but I think she's probably right. Maybe when I edit comments in the future I'll note that on the same comment for those that get drawn there. That way we're not all waling around mylot halls scratching our heads.

@DianneN I usually forget to go back and delete some of them once I've done my replies. Then when I see them again I know I never got back to delete them like I thought.

@MarshaMusselman I've also deleted notifications after commenting, and there they were again in my notifications list! Go figure.

That discrepancy regarding the time of the post in hours verses minutes has been on going since the last upgrade which I think was a year ago.

Yes, I know. I need to edit my post as that wasn't really what I was talking about. I just referenced that to show that Paige's comment was recent but the one from Gus was two weeks old even though both a showed the same time stamp on my notification page. Anna actually gave me a better reason than the one I came to myself. She thinks maybe Gus did an edit of his reply and that's why I got the notify of an older comment.

Yes, that itself is an ongoing problem. All I was saying when I referred to the time of paige's comment is that both notifications showed the same time slot, yet the one I found back on his post was two weeks old not just a moment ago. After writing this, I realized that he must have deleted any reply he made to me after the notification for it was already sent out.

He noticed an error, edited the comment to correct the mistake and so you received a new notification. This makes sense to me, because it happened to me too.

@MarshaMusselman This is what I think, because I also received a notification about a comment left by Gus and I had the feeling that it was an old comment that had been edited to modify something.

Oh, I didn't even think about that, Anna, that he maybe edited the comment from two weeks ago. I figured that he must have deleted on purpose or by accident any reply he made to me right before that notification showed up. I didn't realize that edits resulted in new notifications. Maybe I'll put that into the post to reflect this new knowledge since most or many won't travel down to read all these comments.

That's so bizarre! I haven't noticed anything like that!

Anna thinks that maybe he edited his reply of two weeks prior and that's why I got the notification. It's hard enough to remember everything I say here let alone to remember what someone else may have had before an edit, so that's probably it.

I just came on a little while ago and hadn't noticed. But I probably wouldn't have anyway

Sometimes I'm way behind on notifications, but they fall off the page when it's been at least a week from when it happened, so in that way it wouldn't take place anyway. I'm thinking he deleted his comment and maybe I should just ask him about it, but I questioned it on the post itself, so I guess I did already.

@MarshaMusselman I do my best but I can never catch up. I hope if I miss anyone they will forgive me and understand it's not intentional.

@RubyHawk If you work from the bottom up too then you should be able to catch up if you can be on here at least weekly. Do you mostly work from the top down or from the bottom up? Valerie has around 400 notifications quite often and she's able to get to them before they disappear from the page, but you have to work from the bottom up too. When I've written something new or even otherwise, I'll begin working from the top down and then I'll switch to working from the bottom up. I do try to monitor how long ago the ones on the bottom are and that shows me how much longer I have before they disappear from the page.

If you usually work from the bottom up and only now are you doing some from the top down, whenever we get the newest notifications that just took place it always shows 5hrs. That's not what I was talking about here and I tried to edit it to communicate it better. The post it took me to was two weeks old already, or I should say my comment was. But, Anna thinks he probably edited his portion of the comment and that's why I got a new notification on an older comment I made that was replied to already.

I have not seen anything like it, I guess it happens sometimes though.

I think he must have either deleted the comment after it went through or somehow did it unintentionally otherwise it doesn't make any sense at all.

Yup I have noticed discrepancies like this, I know I just posted something and I get a comment that says 6 hours ago

Well that part, the ones that just come in have always been several hours off. But, this time it appeared that the notification was on a comment two weeks old. I think, in retrospect, that he must have deleted something on purpose or by mistake after the notification already was sent to me about it. That's the only thing that makes any sense. Usually anything that just shows up always says 5 hrs, so if it says 6 or seven hours then it means it's been there two or three hours.
