Joanie Loves Chachi, From Heaven?

I was so sad to awaken this morning to the news that actress Erin Moran--best known for her role as Joanie Cunningham on the popular TV sitcom "Happy Days--was found dead. She was only 56.
After the highly-rated show "Happy Days" approached the end of its 10-year run on TV, a spinoff series called "Joanie Loves Chachi" aired. Unfortunately, the show wasn't as popular as "Happy Days" and was cancelled after two abbreviated seasons. Regardless, both Joanie and Chachi were beloved characters adored by millions of fans.
I remember watching both "Happy Days" and "Joanie Loves Chachi" as a kid, and loved both shows. As a result, I was extremely sad to hear of Erin Moran's passing.
Does anyone know the cause of death?

She passed at a very young age.

I was never attracted to her in the sense that I thought she was beautiful, but she was a favorite of mine because of her gorgeous smile and huge screen presence on the TV shows. People couldn't help but adore her!

@TiarasOceanView I wonder hot Scott Baio (Chachi) is taking the news? He must surely be devastated. Him and Erin Moran remained good friends all these years.

I heard about this last night. So sad. But read that the spinoff was only one season.. oh well not important

The spinoff only lasted for one year, but it actually covered two seasons. However, they were abbreviated seasons. When the show first aired, the first 3-4 episodes were very highly rated, and then for some reason the ratings plummeted after that.

I thought that I read somewhere that she had cancer. Sad that she just dropped off the grid and the only time you hear of her is when she passes.

I saw a brief news report yesterday that suggested she had stage 4 cancer, but no real details or any other information. I'm sure we're gong to have to wait for the autopsy report to know for sure what happened.

I always talk about the show to my kids. Although they have never seen Happy Days, they know all about it. My kids are smart enough to know that all the shows we grew up with were some of the best TV shows ever created. They love watching Nick at Nite, which often shows reruns of popular shows from the 70s and 80s. They absolutely love watching all those old shows!
