Why did a blind man need a picture window?

When we first made plans to move to Tennessee we worked with a contractor to supervise a log home to be built in the mountains. Turned out he wasn't the brightest bulb in the pack. We did cancel our plans and bought a home instead.... for many reasons. But the memory of that contractor (Bob) pushes forefront every time a Ronnie Milsap song comes on the radio. Milsap is an older country singer and he is blind. The way the Bob told the story was like this..... "Years back Ronnie Milsap lived in the Smoky Mountains. He needed a contractor and someone gave him my name. So I checked out the job and he hired me to install a huge picture window in his living room. He loved it...he said I did a good job." End of story.. Now tell me why a blind man needed a picture window and how did he know Bob did a good job? Photo from PIxbay

Because he did have enough sight to distinguish light from dark and could feel warmth on his skin so he knew it 'was ' a great window

Also, Bob liked to make up stories - he probably left off the part of Mrs. Milsap wanting it. From where I heard his house was (he no longer owns it) it was in the woods so not much sunlight. We don't even know for sure if he did put a window in. He made all kinds of claims of his work.

@Hatley exactly! The man Bob told tall tales. When we told him we were not going to build he sent us a bill for $300 for gas money - I guess he figured he needed to get something of the non-job. We paid him half and told him to move on.

I'm sure he had many guests who would enjoy the view. He would also feel the warmth of the sun during the day.

I know, we just like to joke abut it. Actually his wife is probably the one who wanted it, they are now divorced.

I am pretty sure that the one who wanted the big windows was Mr. Milsap's wife, he surely could not judge if he did a good job.

@AbbyGreenhill I hope that the not so good windows was not the main cause of divorce, or they could sue Bob.

@LadyDuck I have a feeling a lot of people sued Bob! He promised us the moon and then when it came time to start the build the price of everything went thru the roof.....we had not dug a hole yet and financially we would have been in one if we continued the project.

I agree, and since then they have divorced so maybe the window wasn't so wonderful after all.

I believe that he knows what is shining through the window. He must sense something. They have great senses. Also they are very smart and knowledgeable

That could be true except Bob was from Ohio and I wouldn't call Milsap a redneck!

That is a good question.I guess he wanted to feel the window pane with his hands and imagine the sun and flowers outside.
