Sick McLittle Equals Unexpected Day Off

United States

Little Miss was up and down all night. She cried herself to sleep and woke several times. Poor little bugger was in misery with sinus congestion. I started her on a non-drowsy children's antihistamine last night. But, it still hasn't taken effect. Her nose is running like a sieve. Thankfully, she has no fever. She is crabby and tired so I am sure she will go down for a good long nap. We are venturing off to the store later on to pick up a decongestant for her and a few other things. Waiting for her to get some rest first. I feel bad that I had to miss a day of work. I have only been back since the 18th. But, they will have to make due. Daycares want the child to stay home when they are sick. I am sure it is just allergies so she will be back tomorrow. Wish I could get her to blow her nose. That is something we will be working on today.

Wonder if a little bit of steam would help Elusive?

I thought of that at 2 this morning. But, it would have woke grampy and he wouldn't have been pleased. LOL

I am so sorry, it is very possible that it's due to allergy. I hope she will feel better soon.

She is playing with her toys now. You can see that she isn't feeling well. Her eyes are red and puff too. She didn't eat dinner last night and very little breakfast. She is drinking plenty of fluids though.

@LadyDuck She has put the toys aside and is now watching Paw Patrol. It is one of her favorites. Hoping to get her to nap after a light meal this afternoon.

There is nothing worse than a poor, little, sick child. Have you tried the baby syringe to remove mucus? I hope she feels better soon.

I tried the syringe and it was a struggle I gave up for fear I would hurt her. She clearly hated it. I have her children's zyrtec and she was fast asleep before 8 tonight. Her nose has stopped running. I am hoping she will sleep through the night. She was exhausted. So am I. Heading to bed now.

Poor baby. I hope she feels better soon. I remember those days of trying to get little ones to blow their noses.

That is impossible! She was letting me wipe her nose which I felt was progress.

@HazySue took her to see a doctor today. She has a cold. Her ears are clear and so is her chest. Was thankful to get that news. Have to give her acetaminophen to keep her temperature down.

Her little nose will be so sore by the end of the day with me constantly wiping it for her. I do have Puffs with lotion so it won't be so rough on her.

It was a long, long night. She kept trying to sleep on my belly. Kept changing positions. When she kicked me in the face I got up and we went to sleep on the sofa/recliner. It took quite a while for her to settle down.

@ElusiveButterfly It's tough sleeping with little ones, they are all arms and legs.

@fishtiger58 She usually sleeps pretty good when it is just the two of us. She wanted to be glued to me last night.

I hope she is feeling better soon. I know it is no fun when us as adults are sick but kids... they sometimes do not understand. At least you have a good job who understands.

It's distressing when little ones are ill - we'd always much sooner be ill ourselves, wouldn't we? I hope she improves soon.

She seems to be feeling a bit better today. But, it is early morning and she has been up since 6:00. I have to work today and she will be going to a friend's home while I am at work. I am hoping she has a good time.

Blowing the nose - it is difficult to get a young child to do this - and it does help with congestion.

I tried a bulb syringe but she wouldn't let me use it on her nose.
