Did You Know This About 007?!

Did you know this about Bond? I didn't know this about 007 and I have watched all the Bond movies from Sean Connery! My favourite Bonds ever being Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan. I never read any of the books, so maybe that is why I missed this fact of this fascinating fictional character. I thought Bond was an Englishman, till I heard a question on a quizz show. The question was, which of Bonds parents was a Swiss? I was all, "huh? What now?" I thought it was a trick question! It turns out, his Mom was Swiss. Now, I know he is only a fictional character but I found this new discovery to me of his "life" just fascinating. Did you know Bond had Swiss roots? Um, they say that small things amuse great minds or maybe I am just daft? As an aside, the totally real Roger Federer, yes, that Swiss tennis star, has a South African mother, I still get a silly grin when I realise we can say he has a link to our country. Have an awesome weekend everyone!

Of course I knew that the Mother of James Bond was Swiss, his father was Scottish. Connery and Brosnan are also my favorite. I have met Sean Connery in Monte-Carlo when we lived there. The last 007 movie he made (Never say Never Again) was shot in Monte-Carlo and we assisted at the premiere.

Oh Anna! You are so lucky to have met Sean Connery! I think he was superb as Bond. It's great you assisted at the Premiere. How did you find Sean Connery to be @LadyDuck , was he friendly or did he keep to himself?

@bluesa He is exactly as you see him in the movie, tall and charming man, very friendly. Ursula Andres was also there, she is really horrible.

You thought Bond was an Englishman? What, with Sean Connery's strong Scottish accent? Why Mish Moneypenny, you're a shite for shore eyesh. No, I didn't know he had a Swiss mother either, but like you I haven't read the books. In the movies, I don't recall his family or past getting a mention at all. I also didn't know that Roger Federer had a SA connection. There's a lot I don't know!

@bluesa Yesh, shome shay I could have been the nexsht Bond. Basildon Bond. I've never seen Skyfall, so am none the wiser. I have sort of lost touch with the recent Bond movies.

I know, shame on me, right? That fabulous Scottish accent should have alerted me @Orson_Kart loving your accent btw . But then Pierce Brosnan is Irish, so, there is that . Same with me and the movies, but apparently there is a mention in I think Skyfall? Not at all sure though. Now you do know about Roger . Don't worry, there is a lot I don't know too.

@Orson_Kart actually you're not missing much. I didn't even watch the latest Bond movie finished, because it is more just like a usual action movie and less Bond. Basil? as in Basil Fawlty? Was it Fawlty Towers or Faulty Towers? eek my memory

my ringtone
Sean Connery is the best double 0-7 for me. Timothy Dalton is the serious type, even Daniel Craig. Pierce Brosnan is also good but i always connect him with Remington Steele. Roger Moore for me, is my least favorite. although he is suave, i think he acts like a womanizer, and he does not show the 'secret agent' personality. would you believe that the message alert tone of my phone is 007?

I have watched almost all Bond movies , but never really gave much thought to Bond the person because he is after all a fictional character. It is interesting to know that he is half Swiss !

Tommy Yeo Thomas was the inspiration for the James Bond character, I had read this recently.

@bluesa Yes it is mostly speculation, but there is a very good theory on this..it was Ian Flemings model for it.
