Taco Bell’s Taco Burrito

I like tacos. I eat them at least once a month, either homemade or from a restaurant. So when I heard Taco Bell was offering a taco burrito for $1.49 I had to try one. I stopped at the nearest Taco Bell the other day. Since most people can eat at least two tacos I order two taco burritos to go. (I always go inside because I have never liked going through the drive-through. I order to go so I can take the items home and get my own drink rather than buy drinks at fast food restaurants.) When I got home I open up one of the burritos and found it to be much larger than I expected. That was a plus. But how would it taste? I took a bite and immediately said, “Yum.” There was everything in there that was in Taco Bell’s taco supremes. Meat mix (not sure if they use real meat), sour cream, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and something that I couldn’t identify. There was pieces of something crunchy. Maybe broken up taco shells or tortilla chips? I don’t know. There is one advantage of the taco burritos. You don’t spill all the ingredients out when you’re eating it. I recommend if you like Taco Bell tacos you try the taco burrito. Matter of fact, if you like tacos I suggest you try Taco Bell’s taco burritos. I’ll also suggest if you are a light eater that you do not order more than one. I ate the two I ordered and was plenty full. This is a limited time item so I suggest you get to Taco Bell before they no longer sell them. I’m hoping it becomes a regular item on their menu. Maybe next time I’ll try to make them at home.

I've only heard about this on radio commercials . . . but I wondered what made the taco burrito both a taco and a burrito. I imagined a whole taco drowning in their refried beans - all wrapped up in a tortilla. So was this crunchy stuff one of the layers or was it mixed in? My daughter prefers the tacos whereas my little son likes their burritos. Maybe they can both eat this one .

The crunchy stuff was mixed in. I didn't get it in every bite. And there was no beans in it.

@RichardMeister I guess I'll have to try it for myself. Next week maybe! What else do you get from there?

@RichardMeister Didn't they have a Doritos taco or something at one time? Maybe broken taco shells are the "chips" like you said. A taco pizza - I've never had that! Is it taco stuff on a pizza? Or is it a pizza folded in half to look like a taco shell ?

I like Taco Bell and its mystery "meat" and wondered about this one. I don't always like their new combinations.

I don't eat red meat so when I want a burrito, I make it at home. But it does sound good.

Here's the funny part. Unless they have changed in the last several months Taco Bell uses a soy mix rather then meat in their tacos. But it still taste good.

Once in a while I buy the kid's soft bean taco- I ask them to put in black beans instead of pinto. Just the right size for me. I am not stuffed to the gillies so when I get home I have a piece of fruit to finish the meal.

@RichardMeister Taco Time seems to have healthier options than Taco Bell. The Bell joint appears to be all about fried interestings.

I have never ordered a bean taco. I usually get taco supremes from Taco Bell. There are no beans in it unless they grind them up and put them in their meat mix which I don't think they do.

@sallypup I don't go to Taco Time. One I went to several years ago and was treated like I was a bum and they were of the highest class. Another one I got sick after eating their tacos. Nearly upchucked and got the trots. Didn't make for a happy day. It didn't make for a healthy choice for me unless you consider cleaning out my system as healthy (which it may be but not an enjoyable way to do it).
