I am in so much pain and no, it's not what you think!

Starting yesterday afternoon, I began to feel a slight twinge of pain under my wedding rings. My diamond ring is sometimes a little tight, so I took it off and left my wedding band on. But then it began to feel very sore, so I removed the wedding band and felt around my finger. Just touching it hurt. I'm left handed, so I use this hand a lot. I use this hand for my mouse, although in the past I have been able to use my right hand, and I think I'm going to have to switch. Since yesterday, the pain has gotten worse. I don't know if I somehow injured it or if it's nerve damage or what's going on. I really hate being without my rings. I remember that Mom had to remove her wedding ring when arthritis hit her left hand and fingers, so I guess it could be that, too. I hope it's gone when I see my doctor later this month because if it still hurts by then, it will mean something is really happening to my hand. More than anything, I want to be able to put my rings back on at some point, but I'm going to give my finger a rest at least for the rest of the week and see what happens with the pain. Claudia

@CRK109 If it persists, maybe go for tests if you can?

it sort of feels like some kind of nerve damage, but of course I'm not sure yet. I have to give this a few days and see how it goes.

@CRK109 Maybe you would like a program that does the typing for you? We have this on a tablet and it is interesting to use.

Thanks, Pat. It's excruciating, so I can only type for a little bit every day. No clue what caused this.

Thanks! I can't imagine what is happening. Typing is beginning to bother it, too, so I need to get offline soon.

Oh goodness, I hope you are able to get to the bottom of things and figure out the source of your pain! Mysterious aches and pains are always cause for worry, although many times it ends up being nothing serious.

I can sympathize. I had to take off my rings the last time I was admitted to the hospital and haven't been able to put them back on. I sure miss wearing them. I am retaining a lot of fluid because of heart failure and my hands are always so swollen. I hope your pain goes away and it's not anything serious..

It may be arthritis. I think that is what I have in my one finger on my right hand. Over the years my hands have been in pain. I am sorry you are experiencing this. I will pray for you.

I think it is fine to remove the ring. It can give comfort and pain is sometimes troublesome.

If your rings are too tight, the pain may come from this. Why not to have them resized a bit? It's an easy process, my Mom had her wedding band enlarged when she had arthritis.

I was so sad when my class ring got to tight as i gained weight and it was cutting circulation off, i ended up having to get it cut off.
