Do you remember how and when you met your first boyfriend or girlfriend? - and what was the main thing that attracted him/her to you? I was eighteen years old when I met my first boyfriend Stan. It was during the summer and both of us were in a long queue outside a movie theater waiting to purchase tickets. I thought Stan had beautiful eyes , however during our five-month friendship I realized that quite a number of ladies thought the same. So, how did you meet your first boyfriend or girlfriend?

I met mine at a house party when I was 13. He was 16 and had gorgeous eyes and smelled good. He asked me out, but my father made me break the date. I wasn't allowed to date or go out in cars with young boys. Apparently that changed quickly when I met my longtime boyfriend soon after at a party. He was also 16' but my father liked his family.

Yes , it would help if your parents are acquainted with the boy's parents. I still recall the look of surprise - and I suppose a bit of relief - on my mother's face when I informed her that I was going on a date. Up till then - my head was stuck in books and pop star magazines.

He was the boy across the street only much older than me. I didn't care about him really, but he persisted. In the end, he was too much for me, older too much. I met him because he knocked on m front door to ask me out.

The first boy I actually really cared for was when I was 16 I think. I didn't realize how much I liked him though until he left me for him a stepsister lol

We were both 14 at the time. We met when we started junior high school. He was tall and handsome. He use to come to my house and we would go for long walks together. The school dances were the best. I remember getting caught by teacher one time when we were kissing in a corner. lol We were together most of that year but then he decided to tell his friends that him and I went all the way which wasn't the truth. I found out when some guys at school make some comments to me. Of course it didn't take long for the rumor to spread through the entire school. We never talked again and as a young girl my reputation was ruined. I was devastated at the time. About maybe five years ago we reconnected on FB and the first thing he did was apologize for what he did back then. He said it always bothered him over the years that he lied to look cool and hurt me because of it. He is happily married to his high school sweetheart. He is retired from the army. We keep in touch and are friends now. Even though he hurt me he will always have a special place in my heart because he was my first love.

@Kandae11 it was awful at the time because everybody at school was gossiping about me behind my back. It wasn't five years later that he apologized...it was five years ago so more like 35 years later.

@Happy2BeMe What he did was really awful - and people tend to believe whatever it is they really want to believe.

You know - reading this I can just feel how devastated you must have felt by what he did. A young girl, her first boyfriend, the feeling of closeness and camaraderie - then the rumors. Anyway, I am glad that he apolgised - even though five years later.

@BabyRai1 Same thing with mine. Imagine I thought I was the only girl he was dating , and it was a big shock when I found out that he had taken me and another girl out on New Year's Eve - to separate house parties.

My first, it was during the summer vacation in the farmhouse of my grandmother. I was 16, there was a 18 year old boy who lived in the house in front of their property. I was attracted because he was polite and very kind.

@Kandae11 I loved to spend my summer vacation in that old house, my cousins joined and we had a lot of fun. It did not last a long with that boy, the year after I met my future husband.

I think in the initial stages it was the physical attraction. Then when you discover that there is no intellectual attraction or mutual interest it is time to move on.

I met him at school. There were several small rural schools that sent their students to the one big high school in the county. We hung out at school but never actually went on a date. The distance between our homes was too great. By the time transportation was available, we lost interest in each other.

I will tell you about the first girlfriend that I actually kissed. I went to a High School dance and was dancing with a girl I met there and this one, Mary, came and cut in. We dated a while but it did not last.

@Kandae11 This was a Catholic school and boys and girls were not in the same classes. In fact the school was made up of two parts, on one side boys and on the other side girls. If you search 1hopefulman on YouTube you will see a video where I show my High School and talk a bit about it. So this was a complete surprise, especially since I was already dancing with someone. I had never seen any of the girls before that night.

Ah my Susan--her parents and mine had a 'summer' home in Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey and we met on the beach at the lake. We were both with a different group and just started talking---there is just something about summer, teenagers and, yes, young love. I wonder whatever happened to her?
