Out of laziness I have not been posting in mylot. However I would like to continue because we get friends from different countries, I came to California in the first week of May from Chennai. I have visited USA earlier -- Detroit and Indiana. This place is different from the earlier two places I visited, I am in Cupertino. I understand Facebook, Apple have their headquarters/offices nearby this place. The traffic is quite high and number of fly-overs are also more. Immediate provocation for this post is I had been to nearby Safeway shop--this is similar to Meijer shops we have in Detroit. In the Safeway shop before our billing -- an old lady was there billing her purchases. That lady must be over 80+ and I was reminded of Hatley aunty who is also living in California, a mylot member. An active member of 2012/14. We visited Sunny Vale Sai Baba temple. This temple is maintained very well. We have different deities -- Siva, Parvathi, Karthikeya, Hanuman, Kali, Saraswathi and also Sai Baba. I will give details of my experiences in my previous posts,

What is Sai Baba like? I think of Sikh. How did you find Michigan and Indiana different from California?

Sai Baba was a saint who lived in Shiridi, Maharashtra State, India in the first quarter of 20th century. A number of temples have been constructed throughout the world and he is worshipped by Hindus and Muslims.

Sikhs are a different community apart from Hindus and Muslims. Sikhs are in large numbers in their State - Punjab in India. We have a quite good number of them living in USA, Britain and Canada and other countries in the world. The temples of Sikhs are called Gurudwaras.

Michigan and Indiana are relatively smaller cities in terms of population, cars etc. Also those places had extremes of winter whereas California is manageable. This place - California is very costly-- especially accommodation is high cost--nearly 250% more than Michigan for the same area of accommodation.

Hope you continue to enjoy your visit to California. We know it is expensive to live there or visit there now. Yes, @Hatley is in California! Wouldn't it be fun to visit her?
