Gypsy just so happened to be the first musical i have ever seen. There is just so many legendary songs in this play, Rose's Turn, Everything's Coming Up Roses, and Some People. The performance i saw was September 25th 2001, now Mama Rose is definitely the star, Susannah Mars did a magnificent job!! Mama Rose is a overbearing stage mother who by the end of the show has complete mental breakdown. I really loved this show and it is how i really fell in love with musical theater, i would love so much to see this on stage again, i have also seen the movie version with Bette Midler and just loved it, Bette is amazing!!! What is you're favorite musical?

I hadn't see Gypsy. I went to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show live in London on the Kings Road when I was a teenager. (was living there at the time) To see Tim Curry right in front of me and me looking up at how tall he was in those platforms was magnimonius. So I think the original show and cast is my favorite. I also liked the show Showboat which I saw in the same theater.

Good movie. Never have had a chance to see it on stage, but I am sure I would enjoy it very much.

That is neat and glad you were able to compare the musical with the movie and enjoyed them both.

Tough question. The 1962 movie of Gypsy with Natalie Wood is a favorite of mine. I have a fondness for Astaire and Rogers musicals of the 30s.
