DANGEROUS.

Have you ever found yourself face to face with a dangerous animal? How did you react - or how would you handle the situation if it ever happens? When I was six years old, I did see a huge snake wrapped around the limbs of a tree. It seemed to be asleep, so I remember simply walking away and leaving it to its slumber. In my adult years the only predators I have encountered so far have been those of the human kind - which brings me to the question. Which would you rather face - a dangerous animal or a robber with a gun?

Boy that's a tough choice @Kandae11 . At least with a gunman, you might be able to sweet-talk your survival. My encounter with an animal was a Wild Hog...in the dark. My donkeys had alerted me to a problem and like an idiot, I went out into the dark with a flashlight to see what the problem was. When I was about 20 feet away from the hog, I heard him snort . I spun around and even in my physical condition, I ran like I was on the Olympic Track Team.

You're lucky he gave you a warning snort before deciding to pounce.

@nanette64 If I felt the need to check out something in the dark, I'd go with a stick or broom or something along with a flashlight. One night last summer I saw eyes in front of my ramp to the porch. Before getting out of the car I grabbed a pole that we use to wash windows higher up just so I could have something keeping whatever it was away from me if needed.

Many years ago, a friend asked me to care for her Doberman while she was away for a few days. The dog seemed to like me, so I agreed. One night, I heard the dog barking downstairs, so I went down and he was hungry. I put his food down and then went to pet him. He suddenly bared his teeth at me, began growling and then began snapping his teeth! I turned around and ran back upstairs to my bedroom and closed the door. I was never so terrified in my life!

He probably thought you were after his food. When did you finally leave your room?

How can I forget that day we met with a lionfish. We were swimming and someone shouted there was a lionfish around. We got out of the water as fast as possible. Well that was scary

I've faced both, and I'd rather a face a dangerous animal. Unless it was a grizzly bear. They're unpredictable.

@Kandae11 The bear I met in Glacier Park was a black bear. He was rooting beneath a tree. I just turned and went the other way. I think my heart WAS pounding.

@Kandae11 I stepped right over this rattlesnake, like an idiot. He didn't rattle until we shooed him off the trail. Then he just coiled and watched us. No more rattling. I think he sensed somehow we weren't intending to hurt him.

I almost stepped on a Egyptian Cobra a few months ago only ,when we was visiting my husbands family in the farming area of Alexandria it was early morning and I only noticed it was there when it moved, ,for a few seconds I was frozen with my foot in the air, but I think it was possibly not warm enough for it to want to strike, I had seen one before also in the same area ,but not so close to me, As for which I would rather face , neither if possible

Yikes, I hope that photo is not of you. Actually that is a tough question. If one knows what wild predators in their areas are likely to do then it is easy to avoid them but people are not and personally I am less likely to trust people. Humans are unpredictable kinda like housecats.

I find it easier to learn about the predators of my region and their habits so I know what not to do than to try to reason with unreasonable people who can be so very unpredictable @Kandae11

I have been in deadly situations, but not with an animal. Quick reflex saved me Kandase. Also a calm demeanor. But when faced with a wild animal, getting away as fast as possible would be the only option I would think.

I run into a lot of stray dogs in this neighborhood, it is very annoying that people can't keep the dogs secure. I have run into vicious pit bulls. So I usually walk with stick in hand, in case I have to protect myself. I would rather not run into a robber or an animal, both could be very dangerous.

I have spotted reptiles in our garden but cannot say they were in an attacking mode. When I was a kid I had gone to my neighbours garden to pick up guavas. I did not know their had let loose their dog. I saw it and I started running. It bit me (lol)

They are almost synonymous in result ; however we can right away if near a snake but fo a croc, it has a slim chance for the victim to survive.

When I was little we were waking through the woods when we came across a wild dog (or a coyote). We told our dog to attack it. Our dog was half the size of it but our dog chased it away. It ran down through a field and jumped a barbwire fence and our dog had to claw under the fence. About 15 minute later our dog came back huffing and puffing. I figured the wild dog had outran our dog. Most of the time if you are out in the woods in the area I live and making noise most wild animals will not come near you. I don't know which one I would rather run into.
