Am I getting crazy?

May 16, 2017 2:22pm CST
When I'm stressed or need to spend time with myself I like to stay in some special place for me and stare at nothing. Trying to clear my mind and think of nothing but my vision at that moment. I totally forget the world. It's almost "magical". Do you also like to stand and look at nothing?

I think that is a good idea to do that. There are times I am staring off into space I say looking at something like the ceiling and staring at it. My cat loves to stare at the ceiling at times but i think she sees shadows and wants to get to them.

Yes, I like to do that. My partner will ask what I'm thinking and "nothing" will be my honest answer!

Yep. But my thoughts tend to sneak back in and annoy me!

Oh, that's a pretty interesting habit. I don't know if you're crazy per se. I mean, everybody has their own way of dealing with stress. But I guess it is a bit strange, sorta? I guess it's a form of escape. You're just trying to avoid the situation for a bit and get your mind back in the present moment. Our mind tends to shift back and forth between the past and the future. If you think about the bad moments in your past, you face regret. If you think about the uncertainties of the future, you face anxiety. So focussing on the present moment, as you do, is a great strategy to alleviate stress. So I'd say keep going, if that's what works for you. :) When I'm stressed, I prefer getting away from the situation and just chilling, usually surfing Facebook, watching videos on Youtube, listening to music, or playing video games.
