A stormy day still

These are the only iris I have at this time. This is how they looked last week, during good weather It is a stormy day still, and the last day of school. Yesterday afternoon I went to the swimming pool with all the second grade students, the teachers and helpers. The weather was clear enough for us to make that walk across the street to the Aquatic and Sports Center, but the rain and storms came quickly about the time school dismissed. Our classroom is moving to a room we can organize better than we have been organized, in a location that is the most suitable for the two kiddoes who will be going to third grade. It is also going to be closer for the one girl who will be fifth grade. We are bringing up a severely multiply handicapped pre school student who will need lots of space. First they will put new carpet in that room, though.

All of my Irises have bloomed and are doing great. However today it's 47 degrees out there so they might be done now.

I usually swim when we take Elijah swimming but we had so many kids in the pool I chose to stay out so that I would have a vantage point.

Nice that you get to look forward to a better room for next year to help work with your students better. I don't think I have any iris's at least not that type and maybe that's one flower that only is that way? I don't remember. I have various types of lillies and something new came up this year in fact this week that I forgot I planted last fall. I planted several bulbs in various places and I hope I didn't weed the wrong plants this spring. The majority of my weeding is tall grass in the wrong place. One of my new employees will be mowing my lawn this summer and he accidentally mowed down my fern. I showed him where to not mow in the front because if you don't know the different plants you could think they're weeds. Unfortunately, I mentioned not to go around my red bud tree, but didn't point out why and he mowed right into it. He did leave my dianthus untouched, thank goodness and my small hosta he also left intact, but he thought the fern showed up there by itself I guess. I'm not too worried, though, because that will grow back fine next year and once it gets hot it usually looks burnt. We've had close to two weeks without rain, but now it's on the forecast for the next week and a half and possibly only two to four of those days rain free but maybe still lots of clouds. I told my workers to pray that it rains at night and not in the day so we can still work.

Yes, you need clear skies in that line of work. I hope your fern does come back.

@GardenGerty I'm sure the fern will be fine. This week we're having on again off again rains and still had people hoping to fit us in somewhere. We actually may make more this week with possible rain showers than we did the last two with clear skies. Go figure.

They get a little more shade here where I moved them and I think the color is richer because they do not get bleached out. This is the first they have bloomed since we moved.

@GardenGerty I found the flowers in England and Ireland very bright. I think the harsh Australian sun bleaches ours too.

We have bell chimes on our playground for the kids to play with and five different sized drums. The kids make great music with them.

I like this one best when it gets moderate sun like it does here. It gets the best color then.
