A Woman And Her Dog

Let me start with the history: Most of you know by now that I have a couple dogs,(But for those who don`t) both rescues and one from the old neighborhood that one of my tenants brought home and allowed him to roam and get on all the neighbors nerves by stealing their things, the other was my elderly friends dog and she passed at 93 and left behind her mentally retarded son and a dog, I took the dog and the son went to jail but not for anything bad, that is a whole other story. I have had one for around three years and one for two years. One is a golden retriever I would say that is 4 years old names Roscoe and one is a beagle and I know known him since he was 6 weeks old and he is now around 9 years old named Harley. The story : When I am outside they want to be right beside me or seeing me, always! So I take them out of the back yard and lets them play in the front , although I cannot let Harley loose because he will take off into the woods and stay gone for hours, or days, I have a 30 foot lead I put him on and he is happy to watch and roll in different grass. This month I have worked harder than ever because of a situation I cant talk about yet, but is coming up soon. I did not expect the mowed to break down but I cant let that stop progress so I used the push mower and more time than I have but managed. Well one day, Thursday I pushed myself harder than I have in years knowing that all day Friday I could sit down, in waiting rooms at doctors offices. When I filled the mower with gas for the last time of the day Roscoe walked with me to get the gas can and back into the field, say beside me while I filled up the mower. I looked at Roscoe all hot and panting and I said " Roscoe, if I fall down out here and cant make it to the house will you pull me home?" Since my dog don`t talk he just stared at me. BUT.... Roscoe did something that is NOT normal. Normal would be to go play with Harley, sniff very bush, walk the entire property looking for intruders. Instead Roscoe walked over to the high grass that was very close to where I was mowing and stayed there. I swear he laid very close till I quit and walked with me to pull the mower across the fields, then he escorted me to go check on Tony who was in the back yard, laid down at my feet. Does my dog listen? I am sure he does now! Photo by Andria Perry : I am standing on my deck while the fields were being plowed 2016.

Well, dogs have done some amazing things in times of crises and so who knows how much they really understand and what they are capable of doing? Their loyalty is legendary!

That is pretty amazing. Something in your words or your tone of voice was telling him something. I think you have a very special dog there.
