OK - what critter did this to me?

Just got back from the doctor, this bite on my leg was getting a little worrisome. Whatever it was it happened Saturday and it itched like crazy. I 'assumed' it was a mosquito and gave the bite a good shot of Benadryl spray. Sunday it was still itchy so more spray. Meanwhile the spot was getting redder and bigger. Yesterday evening it finally stopped itching and I touched it - and it was very sore to the touch. I was getting a little concerned with all the talk of brown spider bites in this area. After we went to the grocery store this morning I called and doc for an appointment and they gave me one for within the hour. The doc put me on antibiotics but he isn't sure what critter did the damage. He said its not a mosquito or a spider bite and he's pretty sure my husband didn't bite me LOL! We are going away next week so if it doesn't improve by this Friday I have to call him. Otherwise, two anti-b's a day for a week and keep an eye on it. Photo is mine.

I agree with @fishtiger58, I would have also said spider. Some spider bites do not cause fever or vomiting, but only redness and swelling. The two small puncture. It's surely not a brown spider, there are so many species.

@LadyDuck The doc said it wasn't a brown spider but I guess other spiders bite. All I know is I did not feel it until it started to itch. The important thing is I have meds so if it is/gets infected I'm good.

I don't have symptoms of a spider bite - no fever, vomiting, tiredness, etc. I looked it up to make sure I wasn't dying LOL!

I have two weird bites too, and I don't know what they are. They don't seem to be getting any worse though and are not painful so I am not too worried about them. I am sure they will eventually go away, if I went to the doc for every bug bite, I would never do anything else..for real!! I live in the country.,.

@AbbyGreenhill yes, I had one that mystifies me too. It swelled for awhile but then went down in size. Since I have no other symptoms I am not gonna go to the doc.

@snowy22315 If we weren't going away I would have waited a few more days....but I don't want to run into a problem on vacation.

@AbbyGreenhill Wow, I was thinking it was a spider bite but when you said your Doctor didn't think it was a mosquito or spider bite, I started thinking a snake bite. My son is home today and I just showed him the photo, and he said it looks like a snake bite (like the fangs of a snake). If it is a snake bite, how in the world did it happen? Where were you walking? My mind is boggled right now!

@AbbyGreenhill I hope it is not too serious and will heal up quickly.

@LeaPea2417 The anti-b's should take care of that, hopefully!

We were sitting on our bench on our dock by the pond - I certainly would have noticed a snake! Whatever did it I didn't feel it - only when it started to itch did I realize something happened. I've had many bug bites over the year, including those horrible Chiggers and nothing left a red welt like this.

2 different ones did they give you or the same one 2 times a day? I think even with my serious issue I never did hear if they think it was a Boil that became infected or if mine was a spider bite. But that issue of yours did not look Fun either.

That bite certainly looks painful. Glad you were able to get to the doctor and treat it with some antibiotics.

I would have known it if a fire ant did it. You would have heard me scream. Whatever caused it I did the right thing going to the doc.

Oof, that is a nasty one, at least you were smart and went to the doctor! For some reason, the little darker marks on it remind me of an outlet socket, it has a little face Haha! Hope it gets better!
