hot days require cold drinks

It is HOT HOT HOT today, and I know it's just the beginning of how bad it's going to get this year. I got the first Slurpee I've had in years, and it has helped to keep me cool (although I'm getting a bit of a sugar headache). I have a pretty high powered blender, and I'm sure I'll be making a ton of slushes for the kids this summer so I don't go broke buying Slurpees. I have 2 lemon trees; I need to juice a bunch of lemons and freeze the juice so I can make pitchers of lemonade on demand too. What's your go-to cold beverage when it's 90F or more?

Water..it uses to be slurpees and pepsi or coke. I rarely get one now. That one looks awesome right now tho it is not hot here today quite mild really. Oh nothing like home made slushies especially with fresh lemons.

Water is generally what I drink, and with plenty of ice. This was a rare Slurpee treat.

When I lived in the PAcific Northwest, it was always iced coffee- but that was when there were seven Starbucks' within walking distance from me. Now it's lemonade or iced tea. Lol. And we have a lot of 90 degree days here. How do you make your homemade lemonade- we have a bunch of lemons and I wanna make some homemade.

I'm good with water! But today I bought some strawberries . . . we took lemons from our tree . . . and made strawberry lemonade! The kids loved it!

I love making strawberry lemonade in our blender! I have some packages of strawberry puree in the freezer for just that purpose.

Water, water, and more water. My first choice is always water, with herbal teas made at home as the second choice. Not a fan of sugary things, as these don't quench thirst for me at all! Love that you have lemon trees-

I also like to have cold drinks when it is in hot summer. That's great that you can even make slushes at home You shall take good advantage of it so that it will be worth to buy the blender

How do you sweeten the lemon drinks? Sugar or something else?

Either sugar or stevia, depending on if it's for me or the kids.

@spiderdust . . . Slurpee for you - - halo-halo for us! . . We are Filipino-Canadians. If you have Filipino friends in California, ask them about halo-halo.

I usually go for either ice water or iced tea and haven't had a slurpee in years. Now I think I might need one!!

Gatorade! But you've reminded me that I should get a new blender. Mine croaked more than a year ago.

Haven't had one of those in years. Like at the Circle K. Water, iced tea and a smoothie.

Does Circle K have something similar? When I lived in Arizona and had Circle K everywhere, I used to get those huge cups filled with Dr. Pepper.

@spiderdust They do. I don't remember the name. I'll get back to you tomorrow on that. I haven't been to Circle K since I moved almost 3 years ago. It was only 10 minutes away to walk. Don't know about over here where I live now. I know what you mean about those big drinks too.

My favorite beverage for hot weather is cold sparkling water with a slice of lemon inside. The only thing that stops my thirst. Sugar makes me feel more thirsty after a few minutes and it's not the best thing if you care about your weight.
