Rain in the Forecast all Week, Yet We've Made More than Normal

Rain was in the forecast all week for us here in Michigan, and it looks like many states around the nation too since the weather system has been swirling around. Oddly enough it's been swirling from the east to the west where it's usually the other way around. The beginning of the week the swirls were huge as their was rain systems in Georgia, Kentucky, Canada and out west, but as the week has progressed it's come in closer to the states surrounding Michigan. Quite interesting to watch, actually. I've been calling forty to fifty customers trying to get them to let us come work, and barely any of them have returned my calls, so when the weather was nice this month we've not done as much work as we could have. Of course, this last week before me returning to my other job tomorrow has been the busiest of them all. It looks like I'm going to be able to catch up with all my bills which I didn't expect, but am very happy about. What I mean by that is that this months bills will be paid this month rather than still owing one or two next month. I hope the rain in the forecast doesn't obliterate all of your plans for the weekend. Maybe it will miss you like it did us this week so you can still be outside grilling, or playing or whatever it is you do for holiday weekends.

When I got up this morning, I could have sworn it would be a nice day. I don't know why, it's dark when I get up, but I am still surprised by the grey skies and wonder where I got the idea that sunshine was waiting to break as soon as the clock said it was time to do so.

@marlina My question exactly, Marie. It sounds like it probably wasn't as nice as she envisioned it to be.

It's like summer here, really hot. I've been planting up my garden and a few showers would have been welcome, instead I'm having to water everything. Good news on getting caught up with your bills.

Yes, I'm very exited about that and a bit surprised since the rain was expected I didn't think we'd be able to get so much done this week. It helped, also, that one homeowner gave us two tips. And generous ones for both.

Rain really doesn't stop much here, unless there is flooding. No one is a fan of that @MarshaMusselman

It doesn't stop raining much or it doesn't rain too much there unless there is flooding? You may want to reword what you said as I don't quite know what you meant to say, lol.

We're going to have the typical Memorial Day forecast here - rain. Today is nice for a change. I haven't seen how long we're going to go without rain though. I didn't turn the TV on this morning before I left for the pool, which is usually when I catch the weekly forecast, but I do remember seeing we're getting rain this weekend.

Maybe it will mostly rain at night rather than during the day too, Valerie. It was supposed to rain here most of this week and while we did get a bit of rain most of the nights, it's barely sprinkled during the day. Some of those days they were calling for 75% chance and still it stayed away. Maybe the rain swirling around out there will just swirl right past your part of WI and miss you guys entirely so you can be outside more than you think.

@just4him I'm working the next three days and then I have Mond through Wednesday off. I didn't think to request to work the holiday, but I'm glad for that now too. I already get paid holiday pay whether I work or not. We don't have anything planned, but I may be glad for a bit of a break since I've not worked 8 hours at a time for three months. I'm hoping to be able to move a bit of furniture around on Monday, so I won't be resting completely but if it works out I'll have that done finally and can then rearrange my living room more.

It has been a wet and gloomy spring so far in the Chicago area, I am hoping for some blue skies soon.

We've had plenty of blue skies, sunny days and somewhat warmer weather mixed with cooler temps too. And of course the rainy days. It seems like we've had May showers rather than April ones at least to me. At least the forecast is what it could be not always what it will be. Many areas are supposed to continue to rain this weekend into Monday, but it could end up passing most people by or maybe only raining in the night and letting people enjoy their parties in the day. It looks like your area should be clear of rain right now, but maybe there's still a lot of cloud cover? I used to be able to see both when looking at what's coming in, but now the weather channel just shows me the rain and not the clouds.

@MarshaMusselman We had one downpour yesterday and it's gloomy yet again today, not sure if we are going to get rain or not. These days I hardly believe what the weatherman has to say.

Inclement weather does tend to put a damper on work and play.

Although I think a lot of us might cancel our plans or postpone them and the weather ends up turning around after all. Of course, if it's planning a wedding or shower outside that's something you can't wait until the last moment to change the location.

Well its Thundering and Lighting here and is very dark outside and looks scary. Im sitting here at work wondering if the power is even going to stay on today, i hope it doesnt go out because i need time on here and time to get stuff on the computer for work. I hope the weather doesnt stay like this for over the weekend and it says its supposed to be nice but thats the weather channel saying that and we all know it can change in a blink of an eye

Did it actually rain each and every day, or did some of it come in the night or only a portion of the day and have some dry weather mixed in:? Sometimes it rains here non-stop for days on end. One year, back in the eighties, it rained for twenty-one days straight. Thankfully, it was a quite type rain, but it still flooded not only the rivers and creeks but it messed up our sewer drains so that certain homeowners lost everything in their basements as the waters backed up We've not had quite that much rain here for quite a few years.
