So far only Muslims were blamed for being religious fanatics. Now Hindus in India are following suit. Obsessed with cow worship the centre has gone a step further and has banned cattle slaughter the nation over. There is heavy resistance as those buffaloes that no longer yield used to be sold for slaughter. There is a cascading effect of this order. Farmers are left with buffaloes that do not yield. Some have simply let them on streets without feeding them. Government has not made arrangements for their maintenance. The cattle is starving with no shelter Meat exporters are left with no business. Many are now without jobs. Cows in particular are packed in stables without proper maintenance. One farmer even told the media that he does not even have money to buy poison and kill himself. There is heavy resistance to this rule which is but natural. Government is interfering with what people should eat and not eat. What is your reaction to this?

I have not noticed any such incidents in any part of the state in India. Recently, I had been to Banaras. Even there also everything is running smoothly.

The Centre has gone crazy proving their might and majority. The Prime Minister is nowhere to be seen. He is touring European countries at our cost.

that is absolutely terrible. it is more break down to survival of humans. i agree that some form of abuse is done to cattle but this is abuse in itself.

The Centre is all for Hindutva and this is the result of that. They are in the majority with a low opposition. The only way is to resist by staging road shows.

Cows are better slaughtered than left to die that way considering that they are considered sacred.

@allknowing me too, it's unthinkable for us who do not have these religious belief, it's like the worst cruelty to animals and wasting food and making people lose jobs at the same time.

That is absolutely ridiculous - why can't they see that worshipping cows like that just spells their doom, and impoverishes their owners.

@allknowing Let's hope they do, it's impractical and unreasonable.

I pity the poor animals and farmers. What kind of bizarre government do you have? I'm still getting over cow worship.

There is a lot of resistance and hopefully that madness will be contained.

Well unfortunately many cows will die if this is to continue. And then there would be no more cows eventually. What will the cow worship centre do then

That I am happy to live in a lay state. Besides I eat mostly beef meat : is it still sold in your country (meat coming from other countries where cows are not sacred) or not ?

There was enough meat until this ban. That is a valid point. May be we can import meat as cows are not slaughtered here although all this sounds weird to me.

It is ironic that with so many starving and undernourished people the gov't cannot use a food source which is readily available. Religion has always been a hindrance to progress. Their leaders intransigent to reason and preferring to hide their cowardliness behind archaic beliefs that have long past their usefulness.

Not yet. Chicken is still there, so also mutton, fish. It has all to do with the cow worship
