Are You Examining Your Life?

Singapore

Do you stop, look and listen...and pause for a while and analyze and examine what's going on in your life right now? As much as possible I try to have a daily examination of my life or some would say "examination of conscience" at the end of the day to keep myself in tune with myself, with others and with my surroundings in order to put everything in its proper perspectives. Without doing this, I find my self lost and disoriented in the Path of Life...

Yeah..but see I love what that saying is on your discussion. What Socrates said is amazing and new to me thanks friend I am always thinking..my life sucks it is terrible really truthfully... And so all this thinking is necessary before making any moves. So if one does not have to think and calculate it is good ..to just breath and be free. All the thinking is for the birds lol..just be freeeeee!!!!

@TiarasOceanView It's a State or Country or if you may a City-State. It's composed of 63 islands and we have one of the biggest port in the world.

@arthurchappell That's good to have an analytical and sharp mind to come up with the best decision possible.

I don't do daily reflection, though I want to do so. I agree that when we reflect more often, it helps us to stay in line. I try to spend some time in the morning to meditate and journal. This always helps me to stay calm and be focus too.

But don't spend 'too much time' examining your life (so much time that you don't notice when it's time to 'act without thinking')! I think that the time to 'examine your life' is at its end (when you can't do anything but examine it).

I sometimes examine my life since I have had many problems but I think it is a good idea to think about it everyday so that we can improve what is required

Agreed. Goals are good. But one has to savor working toward goals.

Yes, I do but when I have a feel of loneliness.. when I'm occupied I will not get a hold to analyze.. sometimes spending time with the self helps to make a correction in self ..

I constantly examine my needs, my motives, etc. But I also try to appreciate whatever is present in the moment.

Thank you so much for this v. meaningful discussion. Indeed yes, it is critical for each one of us to examine our lives and the direction we take in our lives. It is only then that we learn how to mend our ways and learn from the mistakes made @magnumopus

I don't do it quite often. But when I do, I'm probably changing an important plan in my life.

I do this often. I examine my life to think about the accomplishments I've made and what I can do to better myself.

I was in the hospital and really had to make life changes or my life would have been over. The last time I was there a young man passed away that really was a wake up call to reduce stress, eat better and get more sleep. I talked to his wife after he passed and she was worried about how she was going to tell her young children about their Dad. It was sad to hear how he worked so many hours at work and was home so little. She tried to get him to find a better job working less hours and higher paying, so he would be in the office less. Its hard to find the right words when somebody under 40 passes and the Doctor said he did all he could to save him. I overheard the staff say the man waited to long before calling for help. Now I stop and think before doing whatever it is that might end up having bad results, as I can prevent many health issues by getting more rest and slowing down to enjoy my time with the people in my life and on occasion have a special treat with a loved one.
