I Broke His Favorite Coffee Cup

This morning I broke my husbands favorite coffee cup. One minute it was secure in my right hand, the next is was lying there on the floor in pieces. Up he jumped and came running in, he thought I had fallen and hurt myself. He was breathing hard and quite upset. After he cleaned it all up, at his insistence, he realized it was his cup that had been shattered. His NASCAR cup. I guess tomorrow I will be looking for one to replace this one. Usually it is him destroying his cups, this time it was me. I still don't now how it happened.

@HazySue Vintage mixing bowls are the heart of my kitchen. I mostly find them at thrift shops for cheap but oh lordy when they get broken, those bowls cost around 35 dollars each. Plus I get so very attached to each piece.

@sallypup it is funny how you can become so attached. I have a huge aluminum bowl that I absolutely love that I make my bread dough in. If anything happened to it I would be so upset.

So much better that it was a coffee cup and not you! Cups can easily be replaced. Not so much with people!

I was glad I wasn't the item lying shattered on the floor. It broke into a ton of little pieces.

See if it's possible to buy 2 identical pieces, one for everyday use and another stored and kept as a collectible, its okay, its replaceable, good you did not get hurt

@HazySue this time save one in mint condition, solely for the purpose of being a a collectible, it would save anybody the guilt in case any of those in use gets accidentally broken.

That happens. A cup I use on a special day I broke so I designed what wanted on the new one and went and had it done. I really like this one more than the other.

my favorite mug was accidentally broken by someone else, too. good thing someone gifted me with a mug before it happened, though it's smaller. i hope you'll be able to find another nascar mug for him.

bless yer heart, sometimes such jest occurs. i'm glad to hear yer hubs tended the mess though, mine'd prolly jest walked 'way...'r worse, cleaned 'at it' 'n then somebody'd wind 'p with a shard 'n their foot later. hope ya find him a replacement one soon. i know how 'tis to be attached to certain cups, lol.

I was glad he did clean it up and amazed that he didn't notice it was his favorite cup until after he had done so. I hope I can find one similar.

Mugs are made to be broken. And so are glasses. If we wanted mugs that don´t break, we should use tin ones.
