Nobody's Home

This morning I decided to make some phone calls and I started out with my friend who left me a message the other day. So, I got her voice mail and left her a message. Then it was another friend whom I haven't heard from in about two weeks so I thought maybe we could chat and catch up. Another voice mail message. So, my third attempt was to call my Aunt whom I haven't spoken to in awhile and again I got voice mail. Seems as if all my good intentions today went to an automated receiver and I know either all three will call back at the same time or they'll call back and I won't be available and my voice mail will get the message. Sometimes I think our younger generation is smarter when all they do is text and rarely talk on the phone.

I hate talking on the phone but I do use a landline - no texting - and I screen calls.

I don't have that many people that I talk to on the phone but it's nice to just chat when you can't visit in person.

I prefer texting actually. I must be young at heart. I like how you don't spend a lot of time on chit chat but just get the message across. I like to save my chit chat for in person visits.

@BettyB I do too, but I do like to spend time with my kids on the phone but no one else.

There are only a handful of people that I speak to on the phone and we usually have marathon phone calls. We are best friends but don't live close enough to visit anymore so we're stuck with the good old fashioned telephone. Maybe one of these days we'll actually learn to skype or facetime?

@Marilynda1225 Marilyn when I dropped my hours last winter it was because I wanted to be around to chat with you! And here I am now working full time hours.

I know I can always count on you and all my other mylot friends but occasionally I need to touch base with my aunt and my two close friends. Since none of them text it's not always easy to get in a conversation since everyone is always busy

I usually text and then do my talking in person. They will probably all call back at the same time and you'll wind up talking for hours. Lol!

Yes, our phone calls are usually of the marathon nature since we don't live close to each other anymore so we can't do our chatting in person.

I'm sorry you couldn't connect with anyone. Not sure about the texting thing. I prefer ear to ear instead of finger to finger.

I'm not always here to answer my phone either so it's hard sometimes to find time to chat when we're all so busy. I do text all the time but these three don't text at all

@Marilynda1225 I try not to text, but my daughter will text me and then I have to text back. I have a flip phone and no querty keyboard on it, just the letters and numbers. So it takes a while to get it done.

I love phone calls. My nephew calls me every evening and we always have a nice chat. A friend of mine, who had promised to keep in touch, hasn't really talked with me since the beginning of the year. She texted me one day while I was out with one sentence and I replied. Haven't heard back from her since. Texting just doesn't feel the same, although I guess young people don't really know the difference.

I enjoy texting especially when I want to ask my kids something and it doesn't require a conversation. Otherwise I do enjoy a nice old fashioned telephone chat

@Marilynda1225 Texting is great when I'm away from home and don't have the time to sit and talk.

You have a point on that Marilyn. Texting is often the way to go. Sorry no one answered.

I'm one of those people who don't enjoy chatting on the phone - I just say what I have to say and that's it.

I only chat with these three people and since we don't live close to each other anymore we have a lot to talk about. Our calls usually turn out to be a marathon

My sister and I talk a lot but we always text first asking if they're busy. I hate leaving messages on voicemail.

I hate leaving messages too but sometimes it's necessary. Mostly the message is just a friendly one and it's up to the person to call back at their convenience which at times can be phone tag until we catch each other

Well, you know, I personally prefer texting just because it doesn't need as much courage to say anything, and it's really easy to say long words. It also is cheaper, and it's even free in social medias. Free-calling in social media is quite cool, but is really laggy and I just don't like to be interrupted while I'm actually calling someone like that.

I do text a lot but sometimes I have to make a "real" call to someone who doesn't text.

I hate when I get a voice mail instead of the person I was looking for. Sometimes I text to inform I am going to call later.
