Do you ever go overboard buying stuff for yourself?

I know that money cant buy love (well, actually it can, but that's another story), but I very occasionally go on these incredible spending sprees, buying stuff for myself. Just the other day I was in Walmart with a kid client when I spied a reading lamp that I really liked. It had an "old-schoolish" screen, except that each surface was shaped as a square, so it matched the Danish Modern aesthetic of my living space. I splurged and bought it for $29! I put my old reading lamp near the dumpster for someone to grab, and then went over the top when we visited Big Five Sporting Goods and bought myself a nice pair of LA Gear sneakers for $22 (on sale). I spend $51 dollars on myself for something other than food or guitars in one day! Have you ever done such a thing? What's funny is that I feel no guilt!

Had I the money to spare, I also would go over the top - occasionally.

I actually sold a pair of "custom" speakers I "built" last night for $175. But that was AFTER my spending spree.

@TheHorse So it seems like when you spend more, you get more.

Sounds like you got practical stuff for yourself so I wouldn't say you went overboard. I do go overboard occasionally on books for myself but try to rein in my spending

I do not consider any expenditure on myself as overboard. I love me and feel that I deserve anything that I can give me.

The money serves the purpose to buy what we need. This lamp looks very nice and you surely needed the sneakers. I am guilty of buying shoes that I do not always need , but I like shoes.

@TheHorse I have more, I like to pair shoes with my dresses or pants and I cannot resist when I see a nice pair of shoes on sale. The fact is that I have very small feet and at the end of the season my size is all the time for sale.

@LadyDuck I'm sure I could hardly resist such a thing. I spent fully $22 on my sneakers. Have you ever spent that much? I feel like such a materialist!

What is it about woman and shoes? I've known women that had 30 pairs of shoes in their closet! You'd think they were octopi or something.

Yup, it sounds like me when I go to Family Dollar and buy a pair of shoes for $8 @TheHorse . Or the local thrift store for a lamp for $20. Geez, we're big spenders, aren't we?

I cannot remember spending for myself with the last 3 years actually. Since I had my girls, I have been buying more for them than myself. But if I had to buy something for myself, it would most likely be a pair of nike. I love a pair of rubber shoes even if i'll just wear them to go to the grocery.
