How good are you at time management? (I fail at it. Any tips?)

First off, hello again!!! Back in March, I made a post about my daily MyLot routine, or at least what I planned to be my daily routine here. It was a pretty good plan, I think - try to participate in at least 10 discussions per day. Problem is: I fail at time management and once again found myself unable to log in here for a while. Apparently, my last activity here was in April so apologies if I missed anyone's replies since then. (My notifications are empty now. If the replies are on my discussions, I'll be able to catch those and get back to you eventually. But if the replies are elsewhere, I'm afraid the chances of picking them up again are slim.) Anyway, as I said, I fail at time management. There always seems to be too little time in a day. How do you manage it? Sometimes I wonder if I'm just trying to do too many things or if I'm just too slow...
Ok. First off, I will not deny that in the (supposedly) 6 years I have been here (according to my profile), I've probably been NOT here more often than I have...

I use to make a list and check off items each day and stopped doing the list for everything. Now I list the important must do items like shopping with essential items needed like milk. Any bill that needs to be paid and work times, as my work schedule is different every day.

@moirai Yes stopped writing down everything and now only list what is really important. The problem with the old way is it looked like a lot was done, but a few really essential items weren't done quickly.

@Fishmomma I see. Being someone who sometimes fail to do the little things, though, it feels good to check off a list even those little things. Hahahahaha.

What did you mean by 'stopped doing the list for everything'? Did you mean, you used to make more extensive lists before, but now you only list down the important things?

Hey there! I'm good at time management because I don't sweat the small stuff. If one chore is left til the end of the day or even the next day, it's not the end of the world. I have 5 kids, a husband, 2 dogs, a house to clean, and I home school my children. =) I still find time to be here on and off through out the day. So...don't sweat the small stuff and figure out your own priorities.

Ah, see! This is one of the things I find amazing about moms - you are such awesome time managers. I don't know how you get so many things done throughout the day! Probably also one of the reasons I feel I'm not cut out to have a family of my own...

@moirai Trust me it comes to you when you have children it shows up when you need it to. I didn't have good time management skills before kids, you learn things like that as you go along.

I always attempt to do as much as I can each day. If there are things I cannot do but must do I just stay up late and finish up. If there are days when I cannot get on here because of other things I have to do I just get on as soon as I can.

I suppose. Problem with staying up late is: might wake up late the next morning and fail to do things needed then. xD Hehe. But true, true. If things can't be done precisely when you want to, just try to get them as soon as possible. I guess that's flexibility.

I also fail at good time management, I get way too distracted by other things. So lately it's pretty much hit or miss... Lol. Still trying to improve my time management skills. I wish us both luck :o)

Haha. Me too. I get distracted by other things or end up spending way too much time doing other things that I fail to do some other important things. I will join you in wishing us both luck.
