The sad magazine cover that I saw

Yesterday, I was shopping at Wal-Mart and when I got to the cash register, I glanced at the magazine rack and saw the front of the new issue of People Magazine. Shock and sadness overwhelmed me because it said that singer Olivia Newton John's Cancer had returned. When I got home, I looked the story up online. It said she is age 68 and that 25 years ago, she had breast Cancer and that through medication and a holistic health approach to the disease, she had over come the Cancer and was Cancer free that is until now 25 years later and it is back and it has spread. My first gut wrenching thought was about my own sweet Sister who just had in the past 2 years, a double Mastectomy and Radiation due to breast Cancer. She is now Cancer free. Also, during her Cancer, I had learned about one of my ex College roommates who was going through the same thing my sister was going through. She also conquered breast Cancer and is Cancer Free. I thought, when I saw the magazine, "could my sister and my old friend's Cancer come back"? I pray it doesn't and that they both remain Cancer free and live long lives. I pray also that Olivia Newton John will once again over come this dreaded disease and not die. Say a prayer for her and say a prayer for my sister and my old college gal pal.

@Courtlynn - it was probably from me... It was on a discussion post about summer songs and the movie 'Grease' came up in the response... Very sad indeed - but she's undergoing treatments and the latest update she was very positive about the results...

Cancer is the worst disease that has ever existed. The worst of all if detected late there is no chance of survival. I am happy to hear that your sister is a cancer survivor. I hope that Olivia Newton John will be fine soon.

Thanks, it was so good that my Sister's Cancer was found rather early.

I heard about this last week. Yes, cancer can come back. My father had colon cancer and two years later he got it again. It doesn't happen to everyone so no sense in worrying about something that probably won't happen.

That is sad to hear. I lost my Dad last year after a long fight against cancer. It really is an evil disease

I will say a prayer for all of them. Cancer is a very bad thing to get. How I wish there was a cure.
