I am a home computer person. I had a laptop but did not like it and it is too heavy for me to carry around. I have very badly injured shoulders.

@Hannihar I love my laptop as I can take it anywhere in the house and if I am going away ( which isn't often really ) I can take it along with me. I used to have a computer and it got uncomfortable sitting in one spot doing whatever I was doing on there. I like freedom and to sit or lay down wherever I like to use my laptop. I am sorry the laptop you had wasn't ideal for you.

@Hannihar I understand that for sure. So I can see why a computer is much beneficial for you.

@VivaLaDani13 Dani, I understand what you are saying, but, because of my shoulders I cannot lug a laptop and take it with me. If I had it had home only and took to other rooms that would be different.

Mine is heavy but I gave up on my PC and use it exclusively sitting in my armchair in great comfort. But I don't like to take it with me traveling (although I do) because it is so heavy,. I hope to get an one of those new lightweight ones...They are a dream to carry.

@Jeanniemaries That is why I gave up on the one I had because it was too heavy for me. A lightweight is a good idea.

To me they serve different purposes. I use my desktop computer at home but have a laptop for travelling. I usually have a 15 inch laptop because the larger ones are too ungainly to be portable.

@Asylum I use my desk top only. I had a laptop, but, it was too heavy for me even though it was small. I cannot carry heavy things because of my shoulders.

I use both. For situations not requiring portability, a desktop is more powerful, and the parts are cheaper and easier to replace. I use one of my desktop units as a server, so I can access my files or stream my movies and music remotely. For portability, I have my 13" MacBook Air. It weighs 3 lbs. Sorry to hear about your shoulders!

@Hannihar I believe so. I didn't create the gif myself. Funny enough, my mom had an orange tabby named Killer, and he lived up to his name.

@Hannihar LOL, my mom had an orange tabby years ago named Killer, who absolutely loved to fight. He tried to murder my right arm once. By the time he fell asleep on my chest, my arm was looking like the body of Christ.

@santuccie I had a gray and white tabby and she was so so sweet. I loved her so much. Sophie defends herself and still does not understand that I am not her toy or her enemy. I think she understands at times but other times she does not.

I will always prefer laptops because they are more convenient and easy to take around than computers.

@ogbenishyna I take it you have good strong shoulders and I do not so I wish I could have gotten the hang of it and had both a laptop and desktop computer but it was too hard for me. You are so right that if you are fine and can carry one around then that is great. I cannot so have just a desktop computer and work at home.

I prefer my laptop just because I can use it in a y room at home and also take it anywhere. The home computer is more powerful though.

@pitstop pitstop, that is the good thing about a laptop. You just pick it up and use it anywhere. Carrying it is the problem for me and also I really did not like it.

Rather than a laptop, i prefer smartphones or tablets if internet usage is what we are talking about.

@Yadah04 doesn't matter. I have a smartphone, but, do not like to use it a lot because it uses up the battery.

Hi. I like both. If I soon can buy a desktop I will be doing that which includes everything as far as I know.I have a dell laptop which I purchase in December of 2014.Its one of the best computers I have ever owned. The next time though,I'm going to do some research to see about the cost, best software, and really the fastest for online use. I am sorry to hear about your arms. Sometimes you just have to make the best choice which works for you.
