How do I earn in myLot? - A handy reference guide for ALL users

Hello friends and neighbors and other assorted members of humanity, it is I, JJ, with another glimpse at How myLot™ Works. Today, we'll try to break things down for you a bit. The first step (and ultimately the most important) is PARTICIPATION. While myLot does NOT pay you for your participation, you can not receive any interaction from other users (which is what myLot DOES pay you for) unless you participate. There are three ways for you to participate and receive interaction (and you are paid for any interaction to any of these three items): a) Create a discussion. - You will receive payment for any responses to the discussion received from other users or from any 'likes' given to the discussion by other users. b) Respond to a discussion started by another user. - You will receive payment for any comments or 'likes' given to your response by other users. c) Make a comment to any response or to another comment by another user. - You will receive payment for any comments or 'likes' given to your comment by another user. Fairly simple, isn't it? You participate, other people interact with your participation, and you get paid for it. A WORD (OR TWELVE) ABOUT PARTICIPATION: You don't need to be a literary genius and write multiple paragraphs. But you do need to write something that will entice other users to interact with what you wrote. Simply writing 'Okay' or 'Good' or 'I agree' is not going to give other users much incentive to reply back to you. Since you are not being paid for what you write, but for what is written back to you, then you need to give them something worth talking about. Yes, if they 'like' your one word response/comment, that is received interaction, and you will earn for it...but not as much as you would earn if they also make a reply back to you. Be serious. Be creative. Be stupid. Be funny. Be silly. But try to make sure they can't help replying to what you say. THAT, my friends, is what pays. -end of lesson #124,364,976-

Sorry we do not have the "clap hands" emoji here. This sounds very simple, but I fear I will continue to find those silly comments, like "okay" "hahaha" (?) or the usual "I agree", with this last comment people think they are always on the safe side.

Some people think that they are "participating" by simply writing "okay".

@marlina I suppose that they consider that "okay" is an intelligent and interesting comment.

Someone's seen a few too many "I'm new here, how does this work" posts this week.....

@FourWalls I skip those now. It seems to me that if one is joining a website, they should know what is required before they join.

Excellente! Might I suggest that: " While myLot does NOT pay you for your participation, you can not receive any interaction from other users (which is what myLot DOES pay you for) unless you participate." might be a little confusing to those who have trouble with conditional clauses in English. I'd propose: "myLot does not pay you JUST for participating. It only pays you when other users interact with what you have posted." --------------------------------------------- [If you want to change that bit to something on the lines of what I suggest and delete this response, that's OK with me!]

You even earn if someone gets mad at you and chews you out, or as some people where I grew up say "blesses you out".

Comments are the trickiest, as it is not always obvious which comment preceded it (or whose comment). It's a mystery.

@pgntwo That's why they are tagged...and any comment that is not tagged is to the original response.

i really hope that the newcomers will read your discussion. i scrolled the new users discussions and i still see many one-liner discussions that do not need further elaboration.

@JolietJake yes, and asking others to comment on their discussions is a way to increase their bank which, i believe, should not be the case if they read the guidelines. i do not comment on these types of discussions, because it should be protocol for one newbie to learn about the site.

I think that will always be something of a 'problem' here since there is no way to make anyone read the guidelines before they jump in and start posting

@JolietJake So hypothetically, I can spend hours commenting on discussions, and if no one comments on my comments I earn a BIG FAT zero...?

@lovebuglena Yep...that's what it states in the Earning FAQ: "If no one reads what you wrote (follows a link to it), interacts with it (responds or comments to it) , or otherwise considers it interesting (likes it), then you likely won't earn anything." (Words in parenthesis mine)

It can be confusing, since myLot doesn't write it out in black and white and unless you've been here forever some of the statements on the Earning FAQ page can be a little cloudy

@JolietJake Yeah I saw that and I do look for good explainer videos on YT to get a feel of this, I found this site on a random YT vid, which was also very vague and although it was a little cloudy, I signed up anyway, cause I have not been writing the last couple of years and figured as long as I was getting some response from a community it would definitely help me over the writing block. For some reason the word virus pops to mind.. I figure, I film, edit and create content for people for next to nothing and it gets such small reach, I guessed if people here are motivated to read and discuss, I was not going to lose anything.
