WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?

When people stare at you do you ever wonder what they are thinking ? - whether good or bad thoughts? I don't suppose it would matter much to those who are very confident, but some others might wonder if anything is amiss with their appearance. There are different kinds of stares of course - the admiring, the speculative and the insolent. Children tend to stare quite openly - even though their parents or guardians may warn them not to - they are not afraid to voice their thoughts out loud either. Do you people watch without staring? - and would you take offense if someone stares at you.?

I feel very uncomfortable when people stare at me. I usually don't stare at others because I know how it feels. You are right about children. They just blurt out

Staring at me makes me really uncomfortable and makes me feel like they are thinking something bad about me. Can't help it, that is the first place my mind goes.

It can be uncomfortable, but don't let them know you are feeling that way. Throw back your shoulders and imagine the thoughts are pleasant ones.

As you have said, there are actually different kind of stares. One can see it from the eyes of the one who is staring at you. I get offended with a person who stares at me. Can't she just take a look once and not stare? That is why, I love it when it is sunny because I always wear my shades. I can look at a person beside me doing a sideway look without the person knowing I am looking at her when I am in my shades.

@Kandae11 Yes, the shades hide the eyes.

That is a very good point you raised abut the shades. Most times people are unaware they are being watched by someone wearing dark shades - it is easy to hide behind those. It is rude to stare in a barefaced manner.

I do not stay in one place long enough to receive any stares and I do not bother to stare at anyone.

If someone stares at me, I take it as a compliment. However, if I notice them doing it, I look away. My husband doesn't mind if they stare. He gets ticked off if a man ogles me. I love people watching if they don't know I'm doing it. lol

I would take an admiring stare anyday., but my ex husband got mad at me whenever that happened. People watching can be done subtly.

I do not like if a stranger is staring at me. It makes me feel scary as if in the next moment he is going to kill me.

@Kandae11 Do you get the same feelings when someone stars at you? Long back one day I was standing at a bus stop to catch a bus to go to my office. I found that one middle aged gentleman was constantly staring me for nearly 5-10 minutes. It ran down chill in my spine. After some time my bus arrived and I boarded the bus and no harm was done but I still remember that incident.

I don't really know why they look but maybe it's a thing so that you wouldn't accidentally bump into them. Another reason probably is that if the person looks hot or something

around this neighborhood I don't like to look at anyone to long, only because you don't know what they are doing. Someone around my neighborhood stares at me , it makes me uncomfortable. People in a store, i would say the same i feel odd if they stare too long because I feel like something is wrong.

It depends on the stare I have seen a few guys give me a creepy stare that made my skin crawl. A boss giving the intimidation stare. But yes kids tend to say what they are staring at, once my niece was standing in front of me, she was staring at a woman in the grocery line ahead of us, she said " Angie, that woman has a beard." I swiftly put my hand over her mouth, in the car I explained that was not nice to say aloud, even if it did not look right to her for the lady to have a beard.

A creepy stare would be scary. That is exactly what I mean, your niece noticed the beard and felt it was okay to point it out.

Yes, I am a people watcher but never stare. If I notice someone staring at me, I check to see if I know them or if they want to say something and if I don't know them or they do not want to say something then I just ignore them.

A few years ago, a couple stared at me when I was in the city. I have noticed that good enough and I was annoyed. I have caught them staring at me but still continued staring. Then I told them "have you not seen an Alien before?". I supposed they were from the East of Europe and the first time seen an Asian woman. They felt ashamed because maybe they were thinking I couldn't speak German. You know, I have experienced being stared at many times and that time, I was fed up being stared at.

@Kandae11 thank you. There are already lots of Asian in the city where I live and most of the people living here have seen us either in the restaurants or when we are shopping. So I supposed that those who stared at me where not from here or came from a village without foreigners.

whenever i stare at people, I'm not actually staring at them. Most of the times I'm just thinking about some thing and my eyes randomly focus on people or objects, without even actually viewing them. It's weird but it always happens!
