Go Bernie Sanders

Tony is watching Fox news and they are discussing healthcare reform. It was mentioned and a clip followed about Bernie Sanders short term idea, Medicare for everyone not just seniors, and have an open insurance market later put into place. ( As President Trump has mentioned about the free market to lower the cost so it is actually affordable) With the Medicare in place that would mean what I have said time and time again, everyone has coverage and everyone pay the same amount.... ... Oh for those who do not know medicare was never free for my father or his wife, they pay every month out of their retirement checks. Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel for me to finally have Health insurance!

That would be great, although I haven't studied the plan you mentioned and I'm not sure about everyone paying the same amount. If everyone pays the same but 10% of the patients use 90% of the services that's a big imbalance. Someone who uses medical care sparingly and takes care of themselves should probably not pay as much as the hypochondriac who goes to the doc twice a month or the patients with chronic illnesses. However they figure it out I, too, will be so happy to finally have insurance!! I was talking to a medical professional just today who noticed my swollen leg and urged me to get to the doctor for some tests. She was upset when I told her I didn't have insurance and couldn't afford it--she said I could have a life-threatening blood clot or a circulatory problem that needs attention immediately. Well, too bad, money doesn't grow in trees! Sweet of her to give a damn but could have used that damn in Congress when they sold us down the river with the ACA.

I've been a fan of Bernie Sanders for the past couple of years. I wish he was the Democratic nominee instead of Clinton because then he definitely would have won. We have to become a kinder society where we just accept that a certain amount of our income is going to be taxed away to go to government and social programs. I do think that there should be more scrutiny about who is getting welfare, food stamps, rental assistance, etc., but if they qualify, then I'm fine with it. There was just a big bust in a local town with people scamming the system for millions of dollars. Suddenly, hundreds of families were calling the police asking what they had to do to avoid arrest because they were just as guilty as those arrested. It is a big deal around here. I'm glad to see the abuse being addressed.

Most everyone I know has money deducted from their Social Security to pay for Medicare. It is a shame that people are expected to find extra coverage beyond that, like prescription coverage. I would like to see everyone covered with everyone paying the same.

I am sure there would be some adjusting to what he has suggested, as far as I know most cannot afforded the Obama care now on min. wage.

Well, life is what it is but what people need to understand is that Trump is just the front man, not really the man who makes things happen, as in insurance reform. Very few Presidents force new laws.
