I'm glad I yelled

The photo shows Sonny James. He's the guy who weighs in over 17 pounds. I was just thinking about waking up this morning. Just that quick Sonny J. launched himself, starting to land on the soft part of my stomach. (I was trying to get in another minute of sleep and was flat on my back. I yelled cause I was quite startled at the oooph! on my stomach. The loud noise caused Sonny to jump away, so only one foot hit me. What a relief though it still did not at all feel fantastic.

17 pounds is a lot to land on your tummy.

@RubyHawk Yeah. Try to explain to the ER doc why you suddenly have a hernia.

He sure is a handsome boy. My first kitty looked a lot like him, her name was Prissy and thankfully she never pounced on me. Is he part Burmese?

Oh wow, that's what Prissy looked like @sallypup in the sun she was reddish although most of the time she just looked black. Her fur was silky soft and she did have the same kind of nose as Sonny J. She was a mix of course but her momma was a Burmese/siamese mix ..... dang girl got tangled up with a badboy ally cat. Her momma belonged to someone else but I took Prissy when she was 6 weeks.

@rebelann Sonny J appeared out of snow and ice one January afternoon. We don't know what he is. Burmese is long furred? He just grew and grew! His coat evolved into two coats then when he was just over 2 years, he got a grandpa beard- longer and silky on his front that developed longer than the rest of his rug. After that fur grew between his toes like a hobbit. Finally his fur quit developing. Now his black fur is turning more reddy.

@rebelann I'll have to check to see what a Burmese looks like. You have me curious. Sonny even has fur on his toes like a hobbit.

@Shavkat My husband is best with numbers. Sonny might be going on 9 years old. Amazing how fast the years fly by.

lol I can sympathize. Even though Sonny weighs more than any of my dogs, my dogs often treat me like a piece of furniture or a rug and just walk across all parts of me lol I have to yell a bit too or make ugh!! noise.

@sallypup So true, I often ask them if they think I am a piece of furniture and they seem to laugh at me lol

@BelleStarr You're not a piece of fur-niture. You are a fur-couch and Yummy provider.

Did you manage to sleep in for a few more minutes in the end, or that was it? I got licked on the face a few times by our cat, funny feeling!

Sleeping after that? No, @YRNemo. Yes, cats have a brush like tongue so its weird when they lick you.

That is a big weight for a cat. Claudia´s cat has gained a lot of weight now that he is old.

@FourWalls And I appreciate somebody who 'gets' his name though I also named him after a loved person who was named Sonny as well as the crooner.

Wow, even though it hurted a bit, I am glad you have a pet. In my home i am completely restricted to adore a pet

A cat landing on you could be pretty scary if you're not expecting it. Glad it wasn't his full weight,
