“Is rewarding good deeds always a bad thing?”

Some people think that rewarding is essential for the good deed of a person. Others would say it shouldn’t be. In our modern society, the majority of the people expect a reward for doing a good deed. If we think it over, the good actions are not real because it needs to be rewarded. For instance, a passenger forgot her bag in riding a taxi. The taxi driver gave it back as soon as he retrieved the bag to the owner. But then, it is debatable if he asks for a reward, then it is not a real good deed as compared with the situation of not asking for any return. “Would you expect a reward for doing a good deed?” “What do you think about this concern?” Image Credit: img.avidquotes.com

No, I wouldn't expect a reward for doing a good deed. I would be happy to be of help.

I think I did this before. I worked as a volunteer in Tajikistan. I never expect any returns from the local people. But I had touched a lot of people's heart.
As a human, we have our own passion and interest. I was teaching Korean students in one of the biggest academies in the city. Then, I had acquainted with my...

@Shavkat No problem my friend. I think your misinterpreting the quote somehow. I am agreeing with you that no returns are necessary. As the quote states, it's the impact you had on that person that is the reward, not material things It is commendable that you have such a spirit of giving

If I do something good for someone I don't usually expect for something in return.

@Nawsheen As of this day, one of the evil siblings called me up. I gave them our conditions and it seems they are playing around the bush. I really hate them

I agree , nowadays people are expecting rewards for their good deeds. Otherwise we see very less people who do the same.

I had noticed this for a couple of times. During the younger days, people don't expect anything with their good deeds. That's the reason why some people have second thoughts about helping others because others are simply abusive.

The good deed is always in good intention. Some people have their personal intentions to make them look good in public. A perfect example is always in the circle of politics.

not always. we learned in school about positive reinforcements and giving of appreciation to those who did good. as in the case you mentioned, i think it is good to reward the good deeds because it boosts the person's morale, and will do better next time. also, posting the good actions of others on FB will give that person more opportunities to do better, or be given better jobs, for instance.

In some occasions, it is also a good thing to reward people who have explicit kindness. He or she will set a good example that people still have their good conscience.

I don't expect anything but a thanks when I do a good deed. A thank you shows recognition and appreciation for what was done.

Instead of getting a reward, i would prefer to have the good done be done to other person, like passing the good deed.

I think that it is also the good principle. You can be passed the good actions to others. That would be ideal.

I also work hard and wanted to reward myself with something. Whenever I buy something, it is not a reward but to feel deserving to have it.

I never ask for rewards when helping someone out. But I try to reward someone for their help. They don't ask for it, but I feel like rewarding them. Most of them are good people as they don't accept rewards whatsoever. If someone asks something after helping out then they're probably not helping but doing business. It's my opinion, though. Noone has to agree with me. (*_*)/''!

Good people should be rewarded for their good deeds. I do agree that it shouldn't be asked by them. That's a hidden agenda and we need to be careful with these people.
