~Fired For Moving?~

Hey everyone. I hope your doing well. My day has been hectic already-that's nothing I am surprised about right now. I have been cleaning, putting things to the curb, packing more and I am babysitting for a friend today too. Yikes! So...if your wondering about the title. Yes, my husband was fired because he needed to take 5 days off work to fix some things at the new house and to move our family. His boss thought taking 5 days off was too much so he let him go. His boss admitted it took just him THREE days to move into his new place but couldn't understand why we couldn't move an entire family in one day... It's okay though because the house we are moving into-the guy offered him a job! So, after we are all settled into the house my husband will be starting with him. That wasn't long being jobless so that's good. Wow, so much is going on it's insane. I am just holding on for the ride at this point!

That is very low down of that boss to do that to your husband. But good he will have this other work with the new landlord. Sheese

@TiarasOceanView Yeah, I thought so too. Knowing all we have going on and to just fire him like that...it's crazy to me. But, the new job will be better and with a more understanding boss so that should be good.

Wow. That is amazing that he would fire your husband after he's worked so many crazy hours for him. Just goes to show how little employers value their employees' hard work. I'm so happy that he was offered another job right away. That was one thing that you guys definitely didn't need to worry about.

@NJChicaa I think that's what upset my husband the most. He worked so hard for this guy-day and night, whatever the guy needed! Now that my husband needs a little time off he threw him to the curb because the job needs to get done now... I am so grateful for that new job offer too! Better pay and better hours.

@NJChicaa Yup, I am sure that's what's going to happen with my husbands old boss. Once he realizes just how much my husband did his phone will ring asking him to come back. My husband already said he won't go back now. I'm sorry they blamed your husband for everything-that's not right at all. =( I'm glad your husband is much happier now with his new employment!

@LovingMyBabies My husband worked for a company for 9 years before leaving in January. He worked 60-70 hour weeks regularly and sometimes even more. Anything that needed to be done, he took responsibility and did it. He knew everything about every project. He was the go-to guy. When he left, everything went to hell because the bosses never really recognized just how much my husband did for them. Now the place is a mess and they bash/badmouth my husband and blame him for all of the problems that they are having. It has really hurt his feelings. I told him for all of those years that he was killing himself for a couple of guys who weren't appreciating it. Now he knows that I was right.

When things happen the way you describe there is often a hidden hand at work. If I'm right, your husband's new job will be much better for him than the one he's leaving.

@DWDavis Yes, I absolutely agree with you! The new boss is a lot more understanding about things and has a better business sense in many ways. I think it will be a better situation all the way around.

Oh I am so happy that your hubby didn't have long in between jobs. Is the pay good with this new one? Will he be working on the renovations in the landlord's rental properties?

Jen, that is so unfair of that Boss of his to do that to him. It takes a really hectic day to move all of you into another house. But I am so glad that he has found another job that is really really good news that life is on your side. Fingers crossed for you and hoping it goes as well as it can.

@LovingMyBabies Oh no what a to do. I had to move into a place like that and had to live like that for nearly three months also. I fair near went up the wall having to handle things. Just to be hopes that things only get better for you. So unfair donĀ“t they have any feelings for families and its the same here too. Crossing my fingers again and all best wishes for you specially Jen.

@lovingangelsinstead21 Yeah and the house has no sinks, no counter tops and the plumbing isn't hooked up. So...things take time! His boss was a jerk but things will work out the way they should in the end. =)

I can't believe that your husbands boss could be so callous. He will have to answer to that later on in life. It is a blessing that your husband was offered a job. Will he be home more? You have got to be exhausted and I wish I could of been there to help you even if it was just taking care of your children. Bless you and your family. You deserve a break.

@velvet53 Yeah, he's young, rich and single so that explains his actions. He will be working in the apartment complex we are in right now, once he gets our truck fixed. Thank you, our life is very stressful and exhausting right now. I am praying things get better soon though.

As you describe this, it sounds more an excuse that the real reason. If his Boss appreciated his work and wanted to keep your husband, he would have reached an agreement. May be not 5 days in a row, or at least a few hours work. I am pretty sure it's an excuse.

@ladyDuck Well, the guy agreed on a deadline with the customer so he was stressed about it not getting done in time. The guy was a young guy, single and not a care in the world except for work.

@LovingMyBabies The young guy should learn how to deal with people who work for him, if he fires people the deadline with the customers will never be respected.

Is that legal? Do you not have vacation time at your jobs? Here in Tahiti if you work for a company after a year you have 4 weeks off. I can not see this being a good practice where you live.

Well I don't know if really takes that long to move but if there are things that are really important and need to be taken off, then I hope that was explained. I still think the boss was harsh though.

@j0cool It's not just about moving. The home needs a week's worth of work done to it before it's ready to be occupied. That's why he was taking 5 days off-to get the work done in a few days. Then the moving into it on top of the work!

I don't understand why your husband's former boss fired him. It doesn't make much sense. I would have given him the time off. It was nice of your new landlord to give him a job though. That's good news.
