Sunday Picnic.

It is amazing what I have just read. Just before opening mylot I googled sandwich fillings for a picnic I am organising for my family on Sunday. In total there will probably be between 40-50 people coming to the park where we are going to have the picnic.
So one of the first posts I read is by @jstory07 who informs us that August is National Sandwich month. In her post she mentions all the different types of fillings you can put in for sandwiches. What a coincidence. I think she must have telepathically known that someone out there needed this type of information. So a big thank you Judy for giving me some ideas. Whether intentional or not it gave me food for thought pardon the pun!
Did you know that the sandwich was invented by John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich. It was said that he was quite a gambler and rather than walk away from the tables to eat he would ask his servants to bring him some meat between two slices of bread. This was nicknamed the sandwich and from there on in is what we know our sandwich to be.
I love sandwiches don't you?
My favourites are Cucumber sandwiches, Tuna and cucumber sometimes with a sprinkle of spring onion. Cheese and onion or cheese and tomato. You can put almost any kind of filling you like. They can be door step sandwiches or delicate crust free finger sandwiches. They are filling and can be as big or small as you wish!
What is your favourite sandwich?

@garymarsh6 No. I'm not a sandwich person. I have nothing against one but hardly ever think of making one.

I love a good sandwich as well - Egg Mayonnaise is my favourite with some shredded lettuce just to give it some crispy texture. I add a teaspoon of condensed milk to my mayo and then I sprinkle some paprika and ground black pepper on top - Just fabulous to eat.
Love the History thereof.

I am allergic to eggs so can not eat them but the others do. I can't use black pepper because they moan as I tend to be very heavy handed with it. So many likes and dislikes. Good grief condensed milk sounds interesting!

Hi @garymarsh6 , I hope all is well with you and that the weather was lovely for your picnic. My favourite sandwich is a bacon, lettuce and tomato, otherwise a tuna and mayonnaise.

@garymarsh6 Like a sub sandwich. Just another name of it. A submarine sandwich, also known as a sub, wedge, hoagie, hero, grinder, or Italian sandwich, is a type of sandwich that consists of a length of bread or roll split lengthwise and filled with a variety of meats, cheeses, vegetables, and condiments.

OH you would hate me then @DianneN I am very fussy with food to the point of embarrassment! I can eat a sandwich with my hands no problem but I will never pick up chicken with my hands I have to use a knife and fork so I avoid eating chicken if I am out!

@garymarsh6 I also use a knife and fork when eating chicken and lambchops out, even though it's permissible to use your hands in public. That's not being a fussy eater. It's just manners. I never order ribs out, either.

I like salad sandwiches but the beetroot would have to be in miniscule proportions. There is a fad of a red cake made with beetroot. I think they call it red velvet. I can't eat that

@garymarsh6 I think they put beetroot in fruit cakes too - keeps it moist or something - or is that carrot? You can see I'm not a cook.
