Oatmeal with Tablea and Photovisi

I used Photovisi again to make a collage of the oatmeal I made. I used the design called Two Hearts, changed the background, then added text. I wondered if I could use the same picture for each heart and, as you can see, it's allowed. Yay! I like oatmeal to be slightly runny, so my method is 1 cup of rolled oats, 2 balls of tablea (cacao), pinch of cinnamon powder and salt, and 4 cups of water. After scooping it into a shallow bowl, I add raisins, evaporated milk and some brown sugar. It's possible Filipino Mylotters might think this is champorado, which is porridge made from sticky rice (malagkit) and cocoa powder. Champorado can be eaten for breakfast or merienda (afternoon snack). Some like pairing champorado with fried tuyo (dried salted fish). Per Wikipedia, "porridge is made by boiling grain in water or milk. Grains used for porridge include oats, semolina, rice, wheat, barley, corn, triticale, and buckwheat." What kinds of grains is used where you live? Is it cooked in water, milk, or broth? Does it taste sweet, salty, spicy?

It looks champorado to me.. And speaking of, i'm thinking of making some tomorrow when i get up. It's been a while.. I still find it real odd though (and yuck ) that some people loves pairing it with tuyo.

i'm not surprised! i've tried champorado with tuyo when i was young. not bad. are you going to use malagkit to make your champorado? rolled oats is easier. hehe.

I like your photo collage. And the oatmeal, I love it too. But what I like most is how you and prashu exchange ideas about panutsa. I can't stop laughing.

we buy rolled oats, not instant oats, not quick-cooking oats. i soak them overnight so the oats will absorb the water.

yes, the oatmeal turned brown because of the tablea. i always add evaporated milk, whether it's oatmeal or champorado. we use rolled oats, not instant oats, not quick cooking oats.

you can try making it, too. just buy rolled oats instead of malagkit. then if you don't have tablea, maybe use ricoa cocoa powder?

I like my oatmeal cooked in water with just a pinch of salt. When the water is absorbed, I put it in a bowl and I add half and half and sugar. I also like Cream of Wheat, cooked and served exactly the same way.

I buy oats and boil water and add that and put milk on top and possibly bananas. I have not looked at the can to see what ingredients it has in it. I bought more oats because I think I will finish the cereal I have now and eat oatmeal in the winter.
