Severe shoulder pain made me to cry

Dear friends, I was not in mylot yesterday. Day before yesterday while doing mylot I felt pain on my left shoulder. First I thought it may be mild but gradually it increased and become unbearable. I cried with pain and had no idea what to do. I could not do anything and on searching net first item came as a result on search; sudden shoulder pain may be a sign of heart attack! However, after one hour, I felt relief by the time hubby too reached to take me to hospital. As I felt relief I told him to consult the Ayurvedic doctor near by and will go any hospital according to his opinion. Doctor examined me and told that there is nothing to worry; you will be alright after some oil massage on the area and exercise. By evening the pain gone completely but I took rest yesterday too as the doctor said sitting continuously infront of the computer is the reason for my pain. Have you ever cried with pain?

Yes...but this is something you do need to control. You are also scaring me. But my prince charming (my neighbor's five year old kid) ensures that I do not sit continuously. :)

I am in office and getting engrossed with what I am doing, will be troubling me. I need something to distract my attention. May the pain incident will be an eye opener for me.

@Sreekala Present day office works are such that at times, we do not even blink our eyes(literally!) and that and lack of movement is causing our bodies to become stiffer, and more prone to back aches. Even I, with all the knowledge and suffering of past, at times, can't help. Sometimes, you have to work with other colleagues and if we take break and walk for a few minutes, others might feel strange, and might think we are avoiding work. One better way could be if a company allows regular Yoga classes, or if there is an easily accessible Gym. In my previous building in the same company, we had a Gym, where I sometimes used to go. However, later on, it became outdated due to lack of maintenance- cost cutting/cost control perhaps.

A wrong posture can cause pain in neck, shoulder or lower back. I have experienced severe shoulder pain and it takes days to recover completely. It is good that you got relief early.

I felt pain on the upper portion of left shoulder (on bone). I had a history of dislocating the shoulder in the same place when I was studying in first standard. Recollecting all those things, I felt scared. I remember that time I could not attend school for many days.

No such pain so far. And hope they will stay away from me. Yes, this is possible that it happened because of long sitting. Just take a rest. Good to see you back and glad you are okay now.

I too never suffered this way. I am not a person who cry for any kind of pain. So you can guess about the suffering.

@Sreekala Better than taking those antibiotics and other medicines that in fact reduce our body resistance. Yet in case of a very severe condition, we have to take antibiotics.

@Sreekala No it was in years 2011 and a brief period in 2012. Since then, I have been trying to do a short 4 to 5 minutes back exercises almost each day, with a few exceptions and it does helps. But as one nears 40, one starts to understand that its very tough to get back the body of a 25 or even a 32 year old person. Yoga can achieve that but I have not been able to get into Yoga practice. Do you do Yoga?

Apart from the pain of having a C/Section done like it was done before a shoulder pain is horrendous. Here they just give you cortisone and that is that unless you have a private doctor. I bought lavender and mixed it with an ordinary body cream and rubbed it every day and moved it even though I almost screamed with pain every time. Moving it is the only solution and I don´t spend a lot of time here either because of that. Take care and so glad its gone for you.

I have joint pains with most of my body parts now. The latest finding is, all these symptoms come along with menopause. I think I am on that period as I am 45+ now. In that case things won't get better for me untill and unless I took extra care and exercises.

Or it could be a cold shoulder, which my husband has. He cannot just swing her left arm so freely at times, lest it will be painful to do so. He is doing the pulley exercise as advised by a physical therapist. I am glad your shoulder pain is gone. I also had a shoulder pain some time ago, but the constant exercise of it has a bit taken it away. I have noticed that whenever I reach for my big and heavy bag at my left side from the separate small open cabinet and use my left arm, it is a bit painful. I guess it is the heavy bag causing it.

Pain on the shoulder could also sign of hypertension or stroke. As for exercise, I'm going to start walking again tomorrow hopefully with my dog.

Yes, it is a sign of stroke and heart attack. Fortunately my pain did not get aggravate like that. Walking again? Means you are not on regular with your exercise. Yes, that is the problem for all of us. We can't stick with the exercise routine on regular basis.

Actually I was not aware about the reason of the pain and first time I felt this way. Good I consult an ayurvedic doctor, if I gone any other one, they would have asked me to do x-ray and all blood tests.

Yes, it may lead to stroke or heart attack. But the symptoms may vary. Shoulder pain along with pain in chest, difficulty to up the left arm, breathing uneasiness, then problem on talking. The tongue may be out of control and difficulty in speech. All these problems accompany in case of heart attack.

no, and i have a high threshold of pain. when i had the myoma, i can still stand straight even though i was so pale already. i can withstand a severe pain because i can still bear it, even if it is a 10/10 pain scale.

Good to know that you have so much tolerating capacity. I too had it like that and I didn't cried even in labour room (I had normal deliveries for my two children). This time I could not, may be I was scared on the pain, so pain and scare may be made me to cry.
