Woodstock was held on August,15,1969. Fourty eight years ago. When peace and love were being spread around the country by hippies. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Santana were just a few of the preformers who signed on to play there.
There were 500,000 people who attended the three day experience. There was no violence. A couple of accidents but that was all. Rain and mud plagued the event but people got through it.
A dairy farmer named Max Yasgur offered to let them use his farm to hold the now famous festival. It was held in Bethel, New York.
Woodstock Ventures was the name of the company formed to promote and organize the concert. The company is actually still operating today.
You'd have to be at the festival to understand the out of focus picture which is from Flickr.com .

@celticeagle It rather depends on which styles of music you prefer.

Yes, indeed. Probably wise of your mom. I don't think I knew about it until afterwards. I can't remember. Sure wish I had made it though. I was 18 then.

Over 500,000 people were there. Now I get scared in a crowd of 500.
I wasn't there, needless to say (I was only nine and heavily into Buck Owens at the time), but I've watched the movie. I'd really like to see the concert footage without all the extra stuff that was unnecessary and took away from the music.

Just imagining what a mess things were there makes me wonder about a lot of things! Interesting that Woodstock Ventures exists to this day.

I remember hearing about it when I was just 16 at the time. There was a lot of bad PR that came out of it, but it was also touted as the greatest concert of all time. My youngest claims he was born out of time as he would have loved to have gone to that concert.

I think that many young people feel that. I think it was a great concert for many reasons. It was put together pretty quickly and just how it all came together was a great thing.

I used the record of the Woodstock music festival with some of the great rock and roll artists of that time.
