Referrals on myLot - why it may be a long time before myLot starts a referral program again

So most people know how referrals work...you refer someone to a website, and then you either get a flat fee for referring them or a percentage of what that person 'earns'.
myLot used to have a good referral program where users were paid 25% of what their referral made.
If your referral earned $20 in a month, they got $20, and you would get a $5 bonus, etc.
People keep asking/wishing myLot would start a 'referral' program again, but if they do, it would likely be a 1 time payment for getting someone to join, and it would probably also be tied to them being active a certain amount.
The old referral program will not work anymore because you don't earn for your own actions.
For instance, if you got 25% of what I 'earned' each month, you wouldn't be getting it for what I (your referral) did, but for the interaction of people that are NOT your referral.
And it wouldn't work to pay a bonus just because someone 'joined' because you could have 100 people 'join' through accounts you 'faked' just to get a referral bonus for them joining.
I'm pretty sure if they ever start referrals again, it will be a one-time bonus for the person that referred them, and it will be contingent upon that person posting a certain amount of discussions/responses/comments (activity).
So don't hold your breath waiting...while myLot has stated they are 'strongly considering it (the referral program) for the future' it is a long time away.
Just to make a point...

@JolietJake I personally referred a few dozen new members, very few of which were active.

It did appear the people with the most 'referrals' were actually some of the least active members on the board itself

Im okay with the one time payment for the person who referred mylot to others. Im not into indirect referral commissions because I'm afraid that mylot will get bankrupt. If that happens, the site will close and everything will be put into waste. So I guess it is better this way.

@renicemae No, they stopped it when the site was sold and became a non-paying site for a few years.
They have not re-instated it because the earning algorithm is different now than it used to be.

They functioned with a 25% commission basis for 7 years with no problem

@JolietJake That's good to hear. But why did they stopped it? Maybe they are experiencing monetary problems already.

You know so much about these things. Are you sure YOU aren't the little man pulling the levers behind the curtain?

@JolietJake Cheaters will create several accounts to have a bonus each time someone joins, but this would bring nothing to the site.

@LadyDuck That is why I said they would have to be active...myLot never paid people just to have a referral, the referral had to actually do stuff

They didn't actually get any of your money...they got a bonus equal to a percentage of what you earned.
If you earned $10, you got the full $10...and the person that referred you would get an additional $2.50 from the site, not taken from your earnings

I have never understood the referral program here in mylot before nor did I understand the referral program bubblews (was there one?). I told friends how much I enjoyed being here long time ago but never expected to earn from them. I just wanted them to enjoy what I enjoyed.
