Another Anniversary

Today marks the one year anniversary of my husband's spinal stenosis surgery.
He is much, much better, but not 100%, and may need another year to get full, or almost full, range of motion in one arm and strength in his other. He still has numbness in two fingers.
On a happier note, he saw his surgeon today, who was extremely happy with his progress. He was pleased with the therapy and the muscle development from returning to the gym.
To celebrate we let the cleaning lady lock up, and went for a drive on country roads in our sports car with the top down, visited antique shops, and had a wonderful lunch overlooking the lake.
What a difference a year makes, and I hope we can celebrate even better news next August 25, a day we will never forget.
Other than that, we thank our lucky stars that we both have excellent health and neither of us smokes, thank goodness!

It was a long and awful surgery that lasted around 7 hours, two of which they couldn't find his arterial artery and brought in Doppler radar to locate it. I had to feed and bathe him for months. So happy he's much, much better. He is my life!

@Hannihar He is well enough to do most everything except raise his right arm totally out to the side and still lacks feeling in two fingers in the tips of two fingers in his left hand. His deltoid muscles are weak, but he is able to work out at the gym again. He also did some wonderful dancing at the wedding.
When we had to walk down the aisle at my son's wedding, we held hands. Mine, so I wouldn't trip in my 4" high heels, and his, so he wouldn't trip. Besides, we usually hold hands.

@DianneN Thank heavens, he is doing so much better, now. I'm not sure what this surgery is for, but there's always a long period of recuperation, when the back is involved. My friend had back surgery and it took a full year, for Pat to heal up.

Patience plays a big role in such situations. A year is a long time but when you see results nothing matters. Happy for you.
