He Finally Got Called Back to Work!!!

United States
September 2, 2017 6:42am CST
My husband was laid-off from work in the middle of June. They kept adding a week or two onto the initial call back date. So, July came and went fast. Then August dragged by slowly. Yesterday he finally received the call saying they were going back to work full-time! What a relief. He did receive unemployment benefits, but with bills to pay, we barely eeked by. Hopefully we can get back on schedule where the renovations are concerned for our home. We still need 3 windows and I hope to get them replaced before the snow flies. We also need lumber to finish the walls of our bedroom and living room. The living room door needs to be replaced too, but that may have to wait until spring. We also need a new toilet and floor in the bathroom. Praying he will get some overtime in so we can get ahead of the game.

Glad to hear that hubby is back to work. We always find that we have money but no time, or time but no money. The renovations will happen...the windows sound like the priority. Good luck.

I placed heavy plastic around the windows last year. I may have to do it again this year.

I know how that goes, my husband had to take a couple weeks off of work when he was sick and it put us behind in everything. It's difficult when things like that happen but sometimes you have no control over it. Hopefully, you can start checking the things off that you need done.

I hope so too. We need to get things buttoned up before winter.

@sissy15 if I could stay home during the winter months and hibernate I would be okay. The thought of going outside to freeze and have to drive my car on icy roads is not fun.

@ElusiveButterfly Yeah, sometimes I wish I lived in a state where it was warm all year round. I am not a huge fan of winter even though I love Christmas. I just hate the cold and the ice.

Yes, things are finally on the right path again. I hope that the contracts continue to come in and he doesn't get another lay-off.

@ElusiveButterfly Not having a job is stressful, because the bills do not wait.

@atoz1to10 we have been here for a year. Lack of funds and the fact that it was hunting season, then the holidays and cold weather, all kept us from continuing.

@dodo19 Even if that doesn't happen, the money he will make in his regular paycheck will be a lot more than his unemployment benefits.

Fortunately he was given a call-back date and they continued to pay for his healthcare benefits. If they stopped doing this he would have needed to look for a new job.

He is pretty tuckered out at the moment. Poor guy is sleeping in the recliner. His body isn't use to working so hard. But, yes, it is exciting to have him back at work again.
