Mother Nature Needs To Calm Down

United States
September 6, 2017 10:05am CST
It's another dark, dreary, rainy day here in my neck of the woods. I'm not complaining especially after seeing the destruction Harvey left in Texas and what Irma is doing as it heads to Florida. I pray for all those who are in the path of this hurricane. My son and daughter in law are supposed to be flying into Haiti on Saturday for some missionary work for a week. Every year parishioners from their church volunteer to go to Haiti to help and my son and daughter in law were on a committee to help rebuild a church that was destroyed with the last hurricane. Now with Irma bearing down on those Caribbean Islands who knows if their trip will be cancelled. I can't help but worry not only for those in the path of this storm but also for my son and daughter in law if they're putting themselves in danger. I'm sure the trip will be cancelled if it's not safe for them to travel but I'm prone to worrying. My son and daughter in law have 4 sons and I'm sure they wouldn't put their family in jeopardy and have good heads on their shoulders. Me, as a mom, worry about my family all the time. It's crazy since I don't have any control over any of this and worrying won't change a thing. The rest of my family just shrug it off and say "if it's safe for them to go they will and if it isn't they won't" I know they're right but I can't help myself. That's what's going on in my life today. What's happening in your little corner of the myLot world?

My little corner of the mylot world is a dark, dreary, rainy day too. Do you live on my street? I don't mind. I like the rain. But it's very dark out, darker than I've seen it at this time of the day, even with it raining. We gotta worry. It keeps us on our toes. That's very interesting what your son and his wife do. Quite commendable and I'm sure they're very dedicated to the work.

@Marilynda1225 I wonder why it's so dark out? huh. I'm sure you ARE proud of them. They're doing something absolutely wonderful! Very charitable, and helping people is always a good thing. It's a win-win for everybody.

We might live on the same street it's so dark here that I have the lights on in the house. It's darker than the day of the eclipse! I am very proud of the work my son and daughter in law do

I am hoping your son and daughte4r-in-law are safe. I live in Florida. I also have a cousin in Puerto Rico. I am very worried.

They were showing Puerto Rico being in the path today and it seems they are going to get hit. Hope your cousin is okay. Are you in an area that they are evacuating?

@Marilynda1225 Not yet. Hopefully it won't become an area they have to evacuate.

Well, I can't help worrying about my neighboring Caribbean islands now being pounded by Irma. Haiti I am afraid is in the line of fire unless things change. My island is not in danger for now, but one never knows what changes may occur in the next few days.

Hope you stay safe and the storm doesn't change direction and head toward you. Haiti doesn't look like it's going to avoid being hit

I think mother nature is not responsible for the reaction we r watching in shape of storms its child human which is runing mother nature and forcing her to react so i hope the child human of mother nature would stop voilating laws of nature for it to calm down finally

I am preparing to receive a couple of friends for lunch. Everything is almost ready so I´m going to mylot a bit. I have never been in the midst of a hurricane, although I came near when I went to the US several years ago. In my part of the world, earthquakes are the problem. But although our quakes are bigger than the one in Haiti, the difference is that there is much poverty there.

I think I'd rather deal with hurricanes than earthquakes but I guess you get used to Mother Nature no matter where you live. Yes Haiti is very poverty stricken and that's why my sons church goes there to volunteer help in rebuilding

I am sure they won't do anything to put their lives in danger but of course I would worry too! We are watching the news to stay updated but we're hoping it will either weaken or turn away from us by the time it gets here.

Hopefully it won't cause any problems for your area of Florida and that you'll all be okay. I'm sure you've prepared yourself?

Haiti and the Islands around have been hit badly, if I think that my husband wanted we moved to live on one of those Island. Mother nature is not very kind this year. I am lucky, everything is calm in our corner of the world.

Well I will put in a prayer that all will be well. It is true so don't worry on one will let them go if it isn't safe. Just a quite day here and sunny for a change. Took a brisk walk in the afternoon. Now it is evening and I'm finishing up my work on the PC.

I think it's human nature to obsess about the things we have no control over. It's hard to just let go, let God... Things will work out.

Everything always works out the way it's supposed to. I try so hard not to worry and envy those who can really let go

It was a lovely late summer-almost autumn day here today, with sunshine and a nice light breeze. I do feel for those people going thru the storm, as nice as they claim the southern states to be, I wouldn't want to live there. I feel that I can manage thru any snow storm much easier and safer then any hurricane, and I don't have to rely on donations to get me back on my feet again. I feel so sorry for those poor people.

I'd worry, too, even though I know it doesn't help. I can't help myself. I'm a Jewish mother. lol. At this point, I'm sure the trip will have to be postponed. Prayers for them, and my friends and Orville in Florida!!!!

I don't think a plane can fly into Haiti so not to worry. They will probably change the plans to go after Irma has passed through. Nothing much going on here today.
