Running the dishwasher. Cross your fingers for me!

Well, after the discovery of the melted blender this morning, I did some research this afternoon. Seems that KitchenAid, Kenmore, and Whirlpool dishwashers are known for having their control panels catch on fire. There is even a web site "kitchenaidfire.com" devoted to reporting these incidents and there's a recently settled class action law suit about the matter. I couldn't find anything involving my particular model number, though. My husband seems to think that our issue was caused by the fact that I had a large half-sheet baking pan in the dishwasher on the side and that impeded the spinny thing at the top from going around. He feels that it messed with the dishwasher's timing which is what caused the cycle to go on and on and on to the point that it melted the blender jar and top, both of which were made of very hard plastic. So I'm running it again to see what there is to see without a sheet pan in it. I will be sure to stay in the kitchen and to make sure that the cycle is finished before I go to bed. Let's hope that I don't wind up with the thing catching fire or blowing up in the mean time. I've also reached out to KitchenAid and Ninja on Twitter. Already heard back from Ninja. Stay tuned!

Guess I'll stick to washing my dishes by hand. Would prefer to load up a dishwasher though!

Sorry about your melted blender. I've never heard of that happening.I would be very careful not to fill the dishwasher too full.
