It's only been a week with my new classes, but I'm really happy with them thus far. The kids are well-behaved and they seem to be enjoying my lectures. . . as much as a high school student is going to enjoy biology anyway. I do my best to be funny and to use examples that apply to their everyday lives so they can feel like they are learning about something that actual affects their life. (as if "biology" doesn't?) They all heard how mean and hard Mrs. NJ Chicaa was from their friends and were so scared on those first couple of days. Now they can't believe what they were told. They are like "you are so chill and funny!" I'll give them that I'm not mean, but I do have high expectations. They will learn that on their first test next week. I hope this is a sign of how the rest of the year is going to go. I've had many difficult years at this school. Last year was the first smooth and stress-free one I've had in 16 years. I could use another one just like it!
